Grounder off of Votto got away from him, he tried to throw it to first but the ball and the runner got there at the same time, which caused Victorino to knock Cuetos glove off. Victornio turns the wrong way, so Votto tried to throw the ball to Cueto (who had no glove on) but Cueto missed it and the ball hit im in the junk. Meanwhile, Rollins didn't stop running and score from first.

It looked bad, but that was FAR from a comedy of errors. Just unfortunate timing. Nearly a sparkling play by Votto, then a nice recovery. Crappy timing that he gets to first right when the ball arrives. Even WORSE luck when the glove got knocked off Cueto's hand by the runner. Then Votto recovers AGAIN and throws to Cueto...but didn't notice that Cueto had no glove as Victorino rounded 1st in the wrong direction (could've nailed him for it too). Cueto misses the ball, hits him in the nuts. The whole while, Rollins is rounding the bases. When it gets away from the gloveless (and nutless) Cueto, Rollins scores on a GREAT slide.

And then Cueto picks off Victorino.

Votto gets it, underhands to Cueto, who arrives same time as hitter, and Cueto gets his glove knocked off, with ball rolling back toward Joey. THe hitter rounds toward second, Joey picks up the loose ball, and throws back to Cueto to try to catch the hitter off first. Only problem is Cueto's glove got knocked off in first play, so the throw hits him between the legs, and he drops the ball. Meanwhile, Rollins tries to score, Joey throws ball home too late. Everyone safe, Cueto looks to be in real pain.

Yeah, it's pretty bad. I was so anti-Janish that I was actually in favor of the O-Cab signing. However, he is a much-worse hitter than I thought. Just gives terrible ABs then goes flailing at the ball. Has really lost any pop that he used to have and is a very weak hitter. I can't believe I am saying this, but Janish should be the everyday SS for a while. Not for the rest of the year, but the time has come to give him a chance to show what he can do. This team is winning in spite of Cabrera, there is no "lucky charm" BS at play. It's just that most of his teammates are having career years and they are making up for his horrible production at the plate. Plus, he's not very good defensively, which we all knew coming into the season.

I think Bray could have probably gotten him out, but this is likely about putting Bray in position to succeed after missing a long time due to surgery.
