I'm wondering how many more Cavalier fans will suffer a similar fate...
Seriously he must have had problems. I was at a rival SEC school while he was at KY and he was a monster

Remember when he scored 40+ points against UT at Stokely one night?

I do vaugely remember that but I particularly remember upsetting the Twin Towers at Stokely. That's what I recall

Damn, killed himself. That's awful. I have to assume the emotional issues that led to this are the same ones that caused him to eat his way out of professional basketball. Very sad.

They lost that game in which he scored 42 at Stokely. He also scored 42 against Georgia in the SEC tournament the next season.
He was and is one of the most underappreciated players to ever play at UK. He truly a fine player. He was one of the first big guys, along with Bowie, who could step outside and hit the jump shot. I will always have good memories of him and hope his family knows how much the UK fans enjoyed his play in his four years at UK. R.I.P Melvin Turpin :(

Now see, I had forgotten all about that part. :D
Being serious, this is such sad news, not because Mel was a ballplayer once, but because he was a person. May he rest in peace. :(
