I love Mr. Gomes. But he is not, and has not been getting the job done.

Time to make a move.

The defense is great, and the pitching, both starting and the pen has been excellent.

Time for Gomes to go to the bench and be a bat in late innings. Nix needs to be let go, and for that matter Leake and Wood should be getting more pinch hit at bats than our current bench crew.

Time for Walt to go get us the big LF bat we were suppsoed to have last year.

What the hell happened to Micah Owings?

Micah can hit a home run every now and then but thats it, I mean right now, our first bat off the bench is flippin Cairo. Teams dont win championships with a 73 year old slap hitter as the number one bat off the bench.

Gomes was just 3-5 two days ago with 4 RBI. He's hitting .420 with RISP.

.280, 11 HR, 60 RBI on the year

I think he should stay right in the lineup.

Wouldn't mind seeing Janish get more PT at SS, though

He certainly should be platooned, and the best choice for that is Daniel Dorn in AAA his Career OPS against RH pitching is .944. Plus he can play First on days Votto needs a day off.

And we lost that game, and that was ONE game.

He seems to be up A LOT recently with runners on base and not getting the job done.

I dont want Daniel Dorn or Roger Dorn or anyone named Dorn. I want someone who is known to be a stud at the plate in important situations. I dont want David DeJesus either.

does anyone know if david dejesus is a possibility for the reds? i think he'd be a perfect acquisition that should be had for relatively cheap. put him in the outfield to replace either gomes or stubbs, seems like a good idea to me. hope the reds can make it happen.

Gomes actually hitting righties better this year, believe it or not

Gomes also left 10 runners on base in 3 games this series.

Chris Heisey needs more starts.

Johnny Gomes needs fewer starts.

Nix needs replaced by a better left-handed hitter off the bench.

Heisey isnt the answer either.

what is the chances that we let go of nix, and bringing up Alonso just for pinch hitting? hmmmm

He cant be any worse, and it would excite our fan base too...i wouldnt mind that.

Nix is just bad.

I have yet to figure out why opposing pitchers even though a first pitch strike to him.

Just thrown the pitch in the stadium and you are up 0 - 1 on him, he is swining at the first pitch no matter where it is.

Before today Jonny's last 10 games: 10/37 .270 1 2B 2HR 9 RBI's 6k's.

What's the issue with him again?

Janish is reminding me of Hanigan early last season, he just keeps performing when called upon. Hopefully, this will translate into some more PT...OCab needs the Rolen treatment and should get a couple days off a week, especially to gear up for the late drive.

thats what i'm saying. whenever janish is in, he hits, thats all you can do as a bench player to prove you need/want more time. yet heres dusty, letting ocab play on a bum ankle everyday

The Reds are not the Yankees. They're not going to just go pluck a Jayson Werth and put him in the outfield. If Dorn is performing well in the minors he's going to be one of the first guys to get a shot.

4 game sweep by the 1 year removed champions who played in the world series last year. You guys need to step back and look at the Cardinals. They stink and they are about to hit some bumps in their schedule. I think we are going to be OK if we don't panic and pull a Wayne Krivskyish trade. Platooning Laynce and Gomes might work, but I think Gomes' performance this year warrants more time before something like this happens.

Well, those Phillies weren't exactly at full strength. No Utley, no Polanco.
