From the looks of the scores it doesn't appear as if the weather was much of a factor so far today. Rory McIlroy with a record-tying 63 has a three-stroke lead over Tiger (through 15), John Daly (F) among others. Plenty of red numbers up on the scoreboard and plenty of golfers still out on the course. Phil hasn't even made it off the first tee yet.

It looks as if those who got out early are going to get a huge break as far as the weather is concerned. The wind is starting to pick up.

Tiger, standing at 5 under, nearly drives the green at 18. Should finish the day at -6. Links golf is always an interesting change of pace.
Update: Tiger three putts from The Valley of Sin and finishes up -5 for the day.

It will be a fun contrast to see the scores with that traditional St. Andrew's wind. Get those birdies while you can, fellas.

I tried watching about five minutes of this and got annoyed. Why does ESPN have to make everything so damn melodramatic? WAY over the top with everything they do.

The players that got to go early today before the conditions get worse will tee off late tomorrow so the scores may be a lot different by the end of tomorrow.

St Andrews the course isn't difficult at all. The course just doesn't have any bite in today's game. That said the wind and weather is what makes that course difficult. If it is pleasant you will see some serious scoring, if it is rainy and windy then you will see some awful scores. I am hoping for rain and 30 mph wind, its fun watching those pro's struggle.

The early tee time-late tee time switch on Thursday and Friday is of course meant to be fair, but at the British Open(and perhaps in other tournaments in England) it always seems to favor one half and screw over the other half.
For whatever reason, it seems like whatever weather you get on Thursday is flipflopped on Friday, so no matter what one half is getting 36 holes of sunshine and daisy's while the other half is getting 36 holes of apocolyptic rain, wind, and locusts.

Very boring golf tournament, but hats off to Louis O.
My thoughts are the same. It's strange because I always tend to root for the underdog in most sports. But when it comes to golf, I hate to see no name guys win majors. Just seems to diminish the tournament for me. But Louis Oost... played like he was the seasoned veteran. He seemed unshakable and went about his business like a surgeon.
What's funny is that I found myself pulling for Westwood. I have never been a fan of his, but since the Master's he's really grown on me to the point I want to see him get one. Now once the Ryder Cup rolls around I'll probably hate him again. :)
