Cairo in for Rolen, batting order adjusted accordingly. Hope Rolen's back isn't gonna fail on us. :(

I should be able to do PBP until 8.

Is there a reason Cairo is in front of Bruce? I'm not being sarcastic, it's an honest question. Are they trying to keep Bruce in the 6-hole, thinking he's comfortable there, maybe?

I'm guessing if that spot comes up with guys on base Dusty feels more comfortable with Cairo up there.

BearcatShane

Dusty probably feels Cairo is a better hitter tonight vs the the lefty opposed to Bruce. I do too, honestly. Tonight anyway.

I don't mind the lineup at all. Rolen needs to be given as much rest as possible with his back problems and Cairo has been shockingly solid.

Game is officially sold out tonight, they are now selling standing room only tickets... Gates are opening at 5:20 to accommodate the crowd.

Step away from the ledge folks, Rolen is only ill, nothing with the back, although the extra rest is obviously a plus.

Votto takes the 1st pitch and grounds into a double play....

WVRedsFan
07-17-2010, 07:52 PM
As usual, the impatient Reds see 8 pitches in the half inning against a pitcher who threw one strike the whole time. Votto did that in the AS game too. Strange.

Blitz Dorsey
07-17-2010, 07:52 PM
That is called making it way too easy on a pitcher that couldn't find the strike zone. He threw two strikes that whole inning and got three outs. De La Rosa has no clue what's he's doing. Take until you get a strike boys.

I am with Blitz......Phillips does act bush league. I guess he is more tolerable beacuse he is having a very good year...but he still acted like he was doing some sort of stand up routine up there...than getting an at bat. Then I guess you will have to figure out what Votto was thinking beacuse I sure do not know.
That was not much of a strike either.

WVRedsFan
07-17-2010, 07:54 PM
What is it about the AS break that causes players to change? Volquez two years ago and now Votto. Maybe it's a coincidence, but after the 2008 break, Volquez was less effective and I hope that's not the case with Phillips and Votto,

All of a sudden Joey Votto is swinging at the first pitch like he has to.

Serioulsy, that might have been the worst AB of any Red so far this year.

Pitcher coming back from an injury. Can't throw strikes, on the ropes and a chance to at the very least use up a lot of his low pitch count in the first inning. What does Joey do? Weak swing at the first pitch for a lazy double play.

Dumb da Dumb Dumb.

I would have no problem with the Reds keeping Cabrera until he reitires. As long he's not the starter.

And Larkin is the type of player who probably understands the extra things that players like Cabrera does to help a team win that don't show up in the box score. I don't think we appreciate the effect he's had on Phillips, for example.

Interesting question. As many of you know, I have media credentials and attend and write on about 20 NASCAR races a year. I used to say that if I could sit beside Darrell Waltrip for one race I'd sit him straight. Well it happened one year at Rockingham, NC. No. Just absolutely no.

Most of us doubted he could stay healthy enough, and that his sample size of health was too small.

And he was never a good enough defender when healthy, or good enough against RH's to win a job outright. That's the simple truth. And going 1-3 with a HR doesn't erase the month+ of suck he's displayed since the end of May.
