1) Chris Reitsma - I remember being in the car with my dad when I heard that one and was pretty surprised by it.

2) Arroyo - By far the best trade since 1990.

I was kinda surprised by how little we gave up for Junior but not that we got him. Rolen is a good get, but I don't see him being a long term help for this team. That was a tough trade, either you deal Konerko or Casey, and looking back now Konerko has had the better career.

1) I was shocked when I heard Kearns and Lopez for Majewski and Bray plus whatever flotsam and jetsam was included. I would say trading Josh Hamilton was a bit of a shock to the system as well.
2) Picking up Brandon Phillips has turned out pretty nicely.

Really? Arizona did not make the play-offs with Dunn and then thought so much of him that they did not resign him. The Reds were not going to resign him anyway and gained a servicable major league pitcher in Owings.

True, but in that case, take the draft picks.

The mistake was in not dealing Dunn before the July 31st deadline, or even earlier in the Summer of 2008, when it was obvious the team wasn't going anywhere. I suspect that Bob C. put the kibosh on that because of "the losing stops now" mode.

I'll give Jocketty the benefit of the doubt, there.

He did not exactly break the bank when he signed with Washington, I don't think the Reds wanted to take the chance that he would accept arbitration. Jocketty has been on record as saying he needed to change the culture of the clubhouse anyway, I took that as he wanted to dump Dunn and Jr.

I don't know why people continue to say this. He was bad in Arizona. He was bad last year for the Reds in a variety of roles. He was just barely getting by with horrible peripherals this year until his fiasco the other day.

Dusty didn't want to use him because he didn't have confidence in him during high-leverage scenarios unless the game was in extra-innings and his hand was forced.

1. Junior. I was a 12 y.o. kid, and like most other 12 y.o. kids who enjoyed baseball at that time, Junior was easily my favorite player. I didn't pay attention to rumors, I didn't see it coming at all, and I loved it.
