Trade? Who can he possibly be coming up for? Rolen to the DL? I'm so confused.

Wouldn't be surprised that they finally DL Rolen, but not sure why we need another pitcher? Wait, yes i do, Dusty is our manager...

John Fay will have this scoop on Sunday. I have no idea why they would recall LeCure.

davereds24
07-23-2010, 06:47 PM
and why is DRH getting the start over Owings?

Bring LeCure up to start Leake's day against Houston? That's the only possible non-trade reason I can see for LeCure not being in AAA. I guess sending Leake against the Astros would be a waste of IP.

Leake doesn't even go until Sunday though ... something is not adding up here.

Fay says Rolen is taking grounders right now, so he's not going on the DL.

Only thing that makes sense to me is Cueto or Leake might not be able to start this weekend for sickness/injury

And you are shocked by that?

They don't have to make the roster move until Sunday, but they just don't want him to pitch tonight. That's assuming it's Leake that can't go.

You would think Maloney would get the call though.

Well I heard it with my own ears on the Louisville radio. DRH spot start. Lecure heading somewhere.

Bats broadcaster Matt Andrews said lecure was scratched 30 min before the game. He also said there would be a lot of moves affecting the bats tomorrow, SOME WHICH HE WAS NOT ALLOWED TO TALK ABOUT. That could
mean the Matthews out clause decision, but I think something is up...

No, I'm just puzzled as to what the logic is for this move, unless there is a trade in the water..

Trade. But it's a secret. Shhhh.

If Cueto or Leake could not start for any reason, the Reds would call up Maloney, who starts tomorrow, instead of Lecure, which has forced the Bats to start a releiver, even when they are short in the bullpen (owings and izzy have not been activated).

From Fay's Twitter:

LeCure scratched from his start in Louisville. Could end starting for the #Reds tomorrow. Cueto has the flu.

sabometrics

That flu is spreading nearly as fast as thumb injuries.

Well at least it isn't anything serious

I assume it would have been Maloney if he wasn't required to stay down in the minors for at least 10 days or whatever that rule is.

Isringhausen and Miller were going to join the Bats in Gwinnett. (At least that is what I read in the Minor League Forums). That makes at least two places that need to be freed up.

Cueto has the flu...sounds like LeCure is probably going to take his spot?

davereds24
07-23-2010, 07:31 PM
they won't DL Cueto, so LeCure would get his start but not his spot.

They could either send Fisher down, start LeCure, send LeCure down and bring up Burton

or

Send Heisey down/DFA Nix, start LeCure, send LeCure down and bring up Dickerson/GMJr.

These seem the most likely to me.

Gary Matthews Jr.'s agent says Sarge Jr. will exercise right to opt out of T-A contract w/ #Reds tomorrow. Looking for major-league job.

Cueto coughed and sneezed into an envelope today. The Reds put a stamp on it and mailed it to Albert Pujols.

Dang, the guy has had trouble getting a favorable matchup, hasn't he?

He's made six starts for the Reds. Of those six, he opposed:

Carpenter
Cain
Greinke
F. Hernandez

And, if he starts tonight (which it appears he will), it will be against Oswalt.

Have the scratched Cueto for sure?

Last thing I read on Cueto is he seems okay to go.

Aaanndddddd back to Atlanta, wasn't in the cards for me this time.

So it looks like Cueto will pitch.
