Last time a whole series sold out?

Anyone know when this was? Yankees, Red Sox, Giants/Bonds, Tribe, Cubs? I can't remember an ordinary NL series selling out since GABP was new.

I don't know if they were sellouts but when the Cards came to town in early August '06 there were three straight games that were real close.

That St. Louis series in 2006 was not completely sold out. Those numbers are ridiculous though for a weeknight series.

That Texas series in 2004 sold out because Griffey was going for 500. I remember going to those games, hoping to catch the ball so I could sell it!!!!

I attended the Yankees series at GABP, most were Reds fans out cheering against the Yankees. It wasn't as if 20,000 of the fans were Yankees fans, surprisingly.

"It wasn't until the end of May that fans really began coming out: A series with Houston drew more than 30,000 per game. Prior to that, the Reds were averaging only 21,500. Since then they're averaging more than 28,000."

"A few weeks ago, the Reds began promoting a "Buy a 2011 season ticket, get all of our August and September games for free" as a way to build the base.

"That's incredibly aggressive marketing," said Maury Brown, president of the Business of Sports Network, which tracks such things. "That's a win-win for the fans."

The only other major league club that's doing it is the Padres, who announced their program back in June and already have had 100 people sign up. The Reds, much later in getting on board, have already sold 50."

42,000 + is a packed yard. Add another 1,000 SRO and you might get 43,000 for a big game.

the 42,282 (10 more than the official capacity) for the Yankees game in 2003 is probably as full as she's ever been.

42,271 is the regular capacity. The largest crowd ever is 42,794 on Opening Day 2005. I couldn't find anything about the number of SRO tickets that are made available.
