I think we all have focused on the incredible hitting numbers that peaked in May. Yet it's the pitching staff that has kept the Reds in this. Here is just one statistic for the pitching staff over the year, opponents OPS.
March/April... .777
May.... .725
June... .766
July... .652
August... .557
So while the hitting has not been the best, the pitching staff has really picked it up. Both are reverting back to normal, which in the end mean this team is right where it should be. This team is not over achieving or under achieving. They are actually right where they should be. Certainly the pitching will not stay at this level, but the hitting will hopefully pick up and the pace stays the same.
