Brandon Phillips 2b
Laynce Nix lf
Joey Votto 1b
Scott Rolen 3b
Jim Edmonds cf
Jay Bruce rf
Ramon Hernandez c
Paul Janish ss
Mike Leake p

vs. Chris Carpenter

Really solid defensive lineup. I'm surprised by the Nix in the 2 hole move. I LOVE the infield defense for Leake. I think it'll really improve his chances.

If Edmonds can run on his Achilles at all, that OF D is pretty solid as well.

Three CF playing out there. (Though Bruce hasn't played CF in a couple years.)

Okay, now I want Heisey in CF, and Edmonds in LF or RF some until Bruce/Gomes get things straightened out.

I'm DVR'ing the game since I'm still at work, but just wanted to chime in and say that I do hope the crowd is huge (even though it's a weekday series) this series and helps the boys out. I so desperately want to take 2 of 3 in this series and, just as much, want to beat Carpenter.

Go get'em, Fellas!!!

Today it's the thought that if Chris Carpenter loses to Mike Freaking Leake, the Cardinals will have to forfeit the next 10 games out of embarrassment while Carpenter checks into a mental institution and the Reds, spurred by momentum, win 2 of 3 every series the rest of the season.

I'm also dangerously close to throwing away my list of reasons the Reds Aren't Going to Make the Playoffs which I started a couple of months ago to protect myself. It's too soon for this, I know, but these clowns are reeling me in. This can only end badly. PLEASE JUST BEAT CARPENTER. PLEASE.

7-0.

I'll cut the Reds some slack on letting Leake pitch this game, but they have to address this situation immediately. He's probably hit the rookie wall, or the league has caught up to him, or both.

But they can't just let him start games, he hasn't been effective for awhile. Time for a move, whether it's the DL or the minors or the bullpen or just shutting him down.

With Bailey, Wood, or even Maloney at AAA ready to go, there's a need for a move to be made.
