Have fun. I can't see strippers mixing well with the baseball & bachelor party theme, but you could invite Morganna. She's kind of a crossover between the two. :O)

There will come a day when I will say Heisey has earned a right to play every day. I'm not there yet. As for everyone else, no one has earned everyday playing status if you ask me.

I agree w/ this. I didn't see, at first, that we're facing a LHP and was wondering why, after a great night last night, that Bruce wasn't in there. But once I saw that it's a lefty, I'm VERY happy to see the OF as it is. Let's go win the series tonight boys!:beerme:

To me it's not about earning it, it's the fact that hitting is a daily thing for all but a few guys. Despite the struggles of Bruce, Gomes and Stubbs, this TEAM was at its best when the lineup was largely steady day to day. I just don't see how a lineup can really succeed over time flipping out 4 names on an almost daily basis.

I think perception has changed unfairly since the Cards series, but I think the team has played its best ball of the year lately.

I guess to understand where you are coming from, I need to know when the TEAM was playing their best in your opinion, and when the "flipping out names began".

On the date of my bachelor party, Aprill 11, 1980, the Reds beat the Braves 6-0 on a rain-shortened game night shutout by Mike LaCoss. The Reds were in first place due to it being the second game of the season and they were 2-0. Foster hit a home run. How do I know this? Because I kept leaving the party to check the score. My friends thought I was nuts.

But's it's a good omen for you. Since the Reds finished 89-73 that year and I did follow it at my party, maybe that means we're going to be OK. Or something like that...and I've been married for 30+ years.

Yep, I am sure if someone steps up then they will be rewarded. But at this point you may as well play the percentages.

How did you keep checking on the game then? Out to your car to check on the radio or into the bar to check?

I remember calling the Enquirer or Post's night desks to get West Coast scores back in the 70's. Fortunately I don't remember smoke signals or telegraph wires reports...

I totally agree. There was a reason that he wasn't playing a ton.

Seems like every time Bruce does well, he doesn't play the next game.

Yeah, most people think the OF is the OF if you have speed and are a decent fielder. The differing angles make it tough though. Dickerson was solid in CF last year because he was used to it, but had some tough times early in LF, IIRC.

I don't know, I basically agree, but we had a string of K candidates coming up with a righty warming up, I think it was a poor call, but he was barely out and it was executed poorly. He has like 2 seconds to make a decision, it's not as cut and dry as it seems IMO.
