Bit of a Sunday special, with Bruce moving to the 2-hole, and Miggy in at 3rd. Bailey called up, Francisco sent down, also.

1-1 count, Sanchez threw a high curveball that looked like it was very borderline. The ump called it a strike. Joey was pissed and stepped out of the box while talking under his breath at the ump. The ump then ejected him (with a loud "BOOM" noise for emphasis) before Sanchez threw the next pitch.

Brantly just said that. Jeff said Votto did it exactly the way he is supposed to and all batters do it when they disagree. He says as long as batters disagree under their breath and don't show up the umpire, they should not be tossed.

Also that was the second marginal/borderline strike that was called against him in the AB. An umpire has to understand there may be some disagreement on borderline pitches and Votto has a very good feel for the strike zone. I'm not saying that Votto is completely innocent but that ump just needs to get off his authoritarian high horse...this isn't little league.

Bailey has thrown the ball extremely well today. He's locating on the corners with his curveball and his splitter extremely effectively, and he's generating swings and misses when he goes outside the zone.

This is the Homer Bailey that looked so good down the stretch last year.

Well, Homer is done. He wasn't very pitch efficient, but a VERY solid outing. I like that he's picking up where he left off prior to the injury. Homer stepping up would be a HUGE bonus for us going forward. :beerme:
