I really like a Stubbs, Bruce, Heisey combo as well.

That said, Gomes is doing everything he can to take himself out of the rotation.

I know Stubbs has been hitting better and Gomes has played bad. But Gomes is a great hitter against lefties. And I think Stubbs needs to earn his time back in the field and I don't think he has done it yet. Heisey has been solid and should be playing.

We will be facing tough starting pitchers so low scoring games are expected. You need defense to win those. Got to have Stubbs running everything down in center.

I've then got Stubbs as a pinch-runner/Defender off the bench.

I've got Gomes off the bench for homerun power.

I've got Edmonds off the bench for clutch-hitting and as a LH-hitter off the bench.
