MERCY. :eek: Boy have there have been some AMAZING games today! I just got finished watching Michigan State-ND and even though I'm going to lose a point here, how awesome was that fake field goal play by MSU that scored the winning TD??! That was beyond cool and the look on Brian Kelly's face afterwards makes me losing that point totally worth it, LOL :laugh:

The Auburn-Clemson game was a crazy one too. Auburn was losing big early but came back to tie it in regulation. Then Clemson scores what they think is the tying FG in overtime but a penalty means they have to kick the field goal a second time and the guy MISSES it! Insanity and now I'm watching Arizona beat up on Iowa and see that UCLA is winning big over Houston (aren't they a high scoring offense?!). What a weird weekend of college football. I'm very glad this whole weirdo week thing avoided the Buckeyes in their game today, LOL :laugh:

Well, I guess we can put to rest the Ryan Mallett for the Heisman conversation. What an ugly 4th quarter for him in what will be the biggest game of the year. Arkansas should have won that game, but they totally turned it off in the second half. I think they were too busy planning their victory celebration.

Most of us, myself definitely included, are just too darn trusting (or biased) when it comes to the B10 LOL

A vast majority of us went 8-2 in the B10 because of the Purdue-Toledo and Minnesota-N Illinois games. Danny Serafini was the only one to pick N. Illinois over Minnesota, and Hoosier Red picked Toledo over Purdue.

NOTE to OUReds..... you didn't highlight a winner in the OSU-E. Michigan game, but again my practice will be to credit you with the favored team unless you tell me otherwise. And if you say your choice was E. Michigan then I'm going to have to enact our mandatory drug testing policy and you'll have to submit your sample to Hoosier Red for verification! LOL

How is Northwestern only a 5 point favorite @ Minnesota? It started out as -4 and is now -5. NW has been a bit better than expected this year IMO while Minnesota has been worse. NIU was a -4.5 favorite @ Minny last week. Am I missing something here?

24-13 now with 1:16 left. That last scoring drive was much needed by OSU, but I hope this game was a wake-up call. Since Pryor came back the offense ran 24 plays with 20 of them running. I'm wondering if Pryor's injury had a lot to do with that decision to go all conservative? You never can tell with Tressell. But watching Pryor over on the sideline, Pryor is limping around a bit.

The were a few who didn't make picks this week, and they were probably the smart ones because everyone took BIG hits.

In the B10, everyone pretty much went 3-2, with the Illinois-PSU and Purdue-Northwestern games getting most of us. texas dave and BuckeyeRed27 both went 4-1

Now the bad news...... GAC's PICKS killed all of us pretty much.

Hoosier Red went 5-3, the only person to be above .500. The following did finish at .500.... Reds Fanatic, Buckeye33, Cedric, Captain Hook.

The rest of us were either 3-5 or 2-6. Not pretty

Made as hell at the Buckeyes in that 1st half; but they've came out in the 2nd half fighting and making a game of this after being down 21-0. That 2 pt conversion, making it a 21-18 game gives me hope.

Heck of a game, but knew they were going to get tested in Madison.

That OSU loss, for some reason, hasn't got me as upset this morning as I thought I'd be because I went into that game thinking they could lose it. When they made it 21-18 though I thought the momentum was on the Buck's side. But Wisconsin stood up when they had to. Our defense was pretty putrid last night.

Another bad week, as far as GAC's PICKs goes, for all of us. Overwhelming majority of us went 2-5, with a few 3-4's. Only one went above .500, and that was kaldaniels at 4-3.

Same here. Navy is my alma mater and is a sound program. I'm gonna quit looking at stats and over-analyzing these weekly match ups, and start trusting my instincts more. If I had, I would have picked Navy, as well as Syracuse and Wisconsin. :p:

I need everyone's help or suggestions.....

I realize we do this for fun, but I want to be fair to all, and especially those who make that commitment to participate. And I'm referring to those who appear to have stopped participating, or haven't done so for several consecutive weeks. That's why I have started separating any poster who may have done so at the very bottom of each section.

I'm not referring to someone who may miss a week here or there because of work, travel, etc. That happens. But do we need to set a standard, like a minimum overall percentage, in order to qualify at regular season's end? And if that person(s), whom I separate, start to participate again, and meet that minimum standard, then they will be reconfigured back into the main fields.

I'm just trying to work something out, and not sure how to approach it. Suggestions?

I agree with this mostly.Something else you could consider doing is to start counting it as a loss for every game not picked.Maybe that's a bit harsh considering this is just for fun, but it's my opinion.There should be some motivation to continue picking games for those with high winning percentages.Either way, you'll get no complaints from me.

Thanks for everyone's input concerning my "idea" from last week. Still not sure what we need to do though, but I going to throw this out.....

Through 9 weeks we've played 119 games (13 games/week). We have 6 weeks left. I'm going to keep it at 14 games/week for the remainder of the regular season. That's 84 games. 119 + 84 = 203 games total.

I then took the person who has participated the least to this point (54 games)... and personally, this person has not participated since week #4, but I'm going to use him to set a minimum standard in case this week he decides to start participating again. You never know.

So I took his 54 games and then add the remaining schedule (84 games), and that gives a minimum standard of 138 games. So that is 65 games (over 4 weeks) that one can miss? Crap happens folks.

Sound OK? Fair?

Also.... I plan on doing like we did last year with the Bowl games and utilizing the point spread. It was quite interesting last year. LOL

Obviously it wasn't a game between two good teams but in terms of excitement it may very well turn out to be the game of the year in the Big Ten.

I thought that Michigan-Illinois score was a pre-season BB game. Simply ridiculous. Indiana gave Iowa a solid game.

As for on the national scene, we all pretty much took some big hits this week. Most went 6-4, a couple went 7-3. I was the only one who was below .500 at 4-5 (posted too late to pick on Thursday).

Every week, a lot of these "supposedly" good or hyped teams keep falling. It looks like either TCU or Boise could possibly make it to the title game.

B10.... OSUredsFAN and Captain Hook both went 4-1 with their pick of NW'rn over Iowa. All the rest of us went 3-2. IF OSU hadn't gotten their act together in the second half it couldn't been even worse LOL

And though I didn't watch the game, and maybe there were other factors involved I don't know about, I can't believe the Wisconsin coach ran that score up like he did - 83 pts?? - on Indiana. I just don't agree with that.

No real big "upsets" in the other, unless it was USC over #18 Arizona, but I thought that game could go either way. California gave it a heck of a try with #1 Oregon though, and I think San Diego State gave TCU a game. I just don't think TCU and Boise State are as good as some say they are. A lot thought TCU should be in the NC game after destroying Utah last week, but Utah should have never been up that high in the rankings to begin with, and just got destroyed by a bad N.D. team. That can't help TCU.
