Just thought that was interesting in the 9th.

Current first baseman knocking in his would-be replacement in the wings if anything would happen.

You got that right! We have our first baseman for the next ten years or so.

Alonso looks overweight to me. It's kind of uncool that he isn't in great shape when he has been "unable" to learn to play LF because of his lack of foot speed. I wouldn't be surprised if the Reds trade him in the offseason.

Prince Fielder doesn't play LF like we need Alonso to do.

Alonso is almost definitely being traded for an established starting pitcher or shortstop.

What they're doing now is just showcasing him for other teams to gain interest.

Well if they don't trade him, how much worse can he be in LF then Gomes?

How important is speed in LF for the Reds? Any decently hit fly ball at home ends up in the bleachers.

Or over Gomes' head. Yeah, you can pretty much expect anything hit over his head will be a double or more.

Good defense is never a bad thing.

i know this. but if the guy is the real deal, why not move Votto to left? I would rather they just use him as some high quality trade bait and not risk having another adam dunn style left fielder...

Sorry... I guess i could have posted my Yonder comments here, but I thought they were unique enough (Yonder = Driessen) for their own discussion.
