Is Bruce available to PH at least?

With yesterday's win I bet they don't even try it. The team is in the driver's seat and they have a decent margin of error at this point. Get him healthy.

I think we win a good old-fashioned 2-0 game today where Hanigan knocks both runs in in the top of the 6th with a single up the middle.

A win today can just about put the Cardinals away. A 9 game lead with about 25 left to play would be nearly impossible to overcome. Like the title of thread said, Let's go for the juggular!

With our 3 LH OF's injured, not much choice.

RH hitters have hit him better this year anyway.

He has a FIP and xFIP close to 4, so carpenter isn't the dominate pitcher he's been in the past. Walks more than before, and gives up quite a few more HR's, especially to RH batters.

But he's plenty good, and has been nails vs. us. Time to change all that.

If he gets Reds through 6 innings tied or ahead, the deep Reds bullpen will bring it home.

He's prolly thinking, "Sweet! It's Gomes...I don't even have to look." Don't get me wrong, I love Gomes' attitude and he has come up with some big hits for the team at crucial times, but I think almost any replacement level left fielder would outperform him over a full season. IMO, he should only be starting against lefties. :dunno:

Yes I can. Pitch count is not always the primary consideration.

Homer was facing the middle of the Cards order for the third time. No way I would allow that happen with men on base.

I'm not second guessing, I said it in an earlier post.

Tomorrow is Harang vs. Jiminez. I wouldn't be saving the pen for that matchup. I would have used Masset today in that key spot. It was pivotal.

I had no problem walking Pujols, although I understand the contrary argument. But Dusty put too much reliance on Homer there.

Yeah, I would have pitched to Pujols as well. But strategically, I wouldn't call it a blunder. Starting Gomes today, that was a blunder.
