True of Bloomquist so far.

As for Gomes, tonight will provide a little look-see as to how mired he is at the plate. If he can't get any good swings off Saunders, it's got to give the team pause.

I'd be willing to bet that Phillips gets tomorrow's game off, so perhaps Dusty is staggerring things a bit so as to not have everyone out at once and get Cairo 2 straight days in the field.

Hopefully Edmonds is back in time for the playoffs. I'd much rather have him in LF than Gomes at this point.

Reds have shown no inclination to play Edmonds in LF.

They said he would play RF, CF, or First Base. That's how they used him while he was active.

Wouldn't count on Edmonds replacing Gomes at all.

Nix, on the other hand, is viewed by the team as a potential LF. If Nix came back, you would see Gomes sit here and there.

Also, per Dusty, Bloomquist has been "good against lefties in his career" and that's why he's in there tonight.

Yep. I'm not one for usually second guessing the manager...but it was blatantly obvious that there was something wrong with Homey. Why risk injury? That kind of discomfort is just enough for a pitcher to alter his release just a bit...and that is enough to cause an injury. Dumb move.

My concern isn't the score. Homer is a big part of this club's future. Injury risk isn't something to play with.

Disturbing pattern happening in a really great year (very strange).

-Reds score boatload of runs early.
-Reds starter inexplicably implodes with early lead.
-Reds score no more runs after boatload of early runs.
-opposing team slowly chips away at relievers.
-Reds continue to not know how to add to boatload of runs scored early.
-Cordero......
-Loss to a scrubby opponent that was at one time getting waxed.

What?!?!?!?!
