Not true. It's based on "IFFB%" which is counted by a flyball that is made as a routine play by any infield position player. If you go to Fangraphs, you'll see his IFFB% is 0 on the year (but hurry quick because that will change after today).

I'm sure baseball takes a back seat on a Sunday in football season for some. (BTW, why do grown adults wear football jerseys?) It also doesn't help that the team has not been all that fun to watch the last couple of weeks. They only score when they hit a HR, play sloppy defense as was the case today by 2/3 of the outfield, catcher and pitcher, and aren't running the bases well when they do get on. I'm sure playoff threads will have higher participation.

IFFB% is balls popped up within 140 feet of home plate. I did not see this play, but it does not sound like an IFFB.


He's got 558 plate appearances, 382 of which have resulted in a batted ball, and somehow not one of those 382 balls have been a fly ball caught within 140 feet of the plate (the definition of Infield Fly Ball by FanGraphs, and measured by Baseball Info Solutions).
