OK, I'm watching NYY-BOS on MLB Network and they're discussing Felix Hernandez being in on the Cy Young discussion.

Obviously, the guys on YES network want Sabathia to win it. Basically, their justification for Sabatha getting despite his ERA being almost a run higher than Hernandez's was that "well, CC would give up less runs if The Yankees scored less runs." I kid you not.

They then went on to say "You won't be talking about your WHIP or ERA in the Pitcher's Old Folks home, you'll be talking about who had more wins."

Just some serious intellectual commentating going on.

I'm prone to bad sinus infections myself...they are not fun. Some of them can knock you out for days, and even when you can actually get up you feel like crap for nearly a week. No sense in rushing anything, the beauty of a 7 game lead with just over a week left.

Chris just blamed it on Stubbs. Gomes would have dove if Stubbs hadn't made it over that close, apparently.

I agree that Stubbs running in front of Gomes kept Gomes from catching that. Clearly. If Gomes runs harder in, they collide.

Sure. If you expect Cairo to hit .650 the rest of the year that's on you. The Reds are just like every other team. The Padres and Cardinals aren't going to win consistently without Gonzalez or Pujols.

I'm not sure what we could be doing differently. Votto can't play. Arroyo's slop facilitates SD's running game, as does their never ending cavalcade of anonymous speedy guys. Their ballpark has eaten two surefire HRs at GABP plus another possible homer. The only thing Dusty could do differently is put someone else in LF, but Heisey is a complete mess at the plate (I would still argue that the tire fire that is Jonny Gomes is worse, but I see the point).
