I said Tuesday, but I vote for a Cardinal loss and a pennant for the first time in too many years. They can celebrate after the win on Tuesday. I just want to see the celebration.

Would it be possible to do a pre-game celebration tomorrow? That would probably be a first :beerme:

I've been casually following the game tonight so far, just looking at the score every 10 minutes or so. I honestly had no idea what I wanted earlier today, whether it was for the Cardinals to lose so the Reds could clinch or the Cardinals to win so the Reds had a chance to clinch at home with a win.

I think as the game is developing, especially now that the Pirates have a 4-2 lead in the 5th inning, my head is taking over. It'd be exciting to watch the Reds clinch in person tomorrow night, if they'd win, but I can't root for the Cardinals to come back.

I don't agree with it, but truthfully I think a good case could be made. Especially if we examine most "valuable" as the way it should be defined.

After all, that Cardinal offense was so woeful outside of a few players, you take away Pujols and that team doesn't sniff .500.

Wouldn't the bases have been loaded for the top of the order?

And Schumaker's ground out was a double play. Never can tell what might have ben played differently in that situation.

Don't think you can ever assume that.

They're Pirates. They steal.

Jones grounds out. Cards win 6-4. Forget the Cards. Reds need to go out and win this themselves tomorrow night.

Pirates are terrible. St. Louis will sweep them.

We're going to have to beat Wandy tomorrow night. This waiting around stuff has to end.

Of course not. But the run ACTUALLY scored on the HBP, when it should have been a dead ball.

Maybe, if it was called properly, Schumaker HRs. Like I said above, I agree that you can never say how things would have played out for sure. BUT, like I said originally, the run probably wouldn't have scored.

All those tickets were sold at the beginning of the year. You're in contention for 10 years running, you get 40K a game, every game and don't have to rely on walk-ups...

It's still impressive. There are attendance problems running rampant through baseball, even with winning teams. It's the last Monday game of the season when the Cards are all but out. Reds can't draw that winning.

That's true. I doubt there will be 15,000 at the Reds game on Tuesday night.

BUT... give them a stretch like we had from '01-'09 and I'd like to see how well they do. They'd still probably beat our numbers during that stretch, but I don't think they'd be nearly as impressive as they are now.

Great teams create great fans.

Isn't that paid, not necessarily actually at the game? There were a lot of empty seats during the Pads series at Busch, when there was still a small glimmer of hope, so I can't imagine they were 90% full last night in people actually at the game.
