Sad to hear this but everytime I think of Ron Santo I think of his broadcasting skills of dropping in the dynamite line of Yawh, Yawup, or Yeah. ON XM last year in August the Reds were at Wrigley on a Friday and the Cubs station was all I could get to listen to the game. All Santo said the whole game was Yawh, Yawup, and Yeah.

The guy was a pleasure to listen to on XM and he loved the Cubs as much as one person could love any team. He is as important to Cubs fans as Marty and Joe were to us. Baseball lost a great man today. RIP Ron!

This phrase is overused, but not in Santo's case...

One of the truly nicest guys in all of sports.

I wish the whole world could share in his optimism and love of life.

RIP

I couldn't listen to Ron Santo without thinking of my dad. Dad was aCub fan his entire life. He just made the mistake of taking me to my first game in Cincy. Every team needs their "Homer". We had Joe Nuxhall. Boy, do I miss him on the radio. The Cubs had Ronnie. I will miss him, too. Maybe now he will get his Hall of Fame nod. Too bad it will be after his passing. I have never felt sorry for the Cubs until now.
