Good for him. I wish Harang the best and San Diego is a perfect fit for him (big big park).

I hope he's great there for the rest of his career, in that ballpark. One of my favorite Reds. He was the only bright spot, in the last few years, that the Reds had. He gave it his all when he was here. He was definitely a true Red.

He will probably be able to put up close to decent numbers in that canyon of a ballpark.

Best of luck Harangatang. I was really worried nobody would pick him up. He hasn't been the same for 2 years now. Wish him the best.

Good for him! I'm glad he gets to go home, and for once, there's a former Red whom I would love to see do well somewhere else.

Good for him... I wish him the very best. Gets to pitch/live near his hometown and has plenty of money from his time with the Reds... gotta be pretty nice .

Good for him. He will do well in San Diego. Ball doesn't fly out of Petco quite like it does at the GABP.

3 mill?? his agents are good, figured he'd just sign a minor league deal...

$4 million

WOW

6-7 with a 5.32 ERA = $4 million, might be different if it was just one bad season, but it 3 bad seasons in a row

Last three years 18-38 (.321) with a 4.70 ERA

makes the Arroyo deal look better

In other news, Mike Lincoln just signed with the Nats.........7 years / $35M.

Just kidding.

I hope he has a great year. $4 mil for a 5th starter really isn't that much these days, the Reds are so lucky to have young cheap guys to fill that role. I have no doubt Harang's numbers will be much better pitching out there.

From Faye's blog:

The scheduled matchup for tomorrow’s game at Peoria vs. San Diego is an interesting one. Edinson Volquez is slated to face Aaron Harang. That’s a battle of Reds’ Opening Day pitchers past and present.

I say scheduled matchup because I haven’t seen Volquez yet today. He, of course, went to the Dominican to get his work visa.

I hope Harang can turn it around, I think he can do it in a huge park like Petco. Nothing but respect for what he did for the Reds hope he can regain his past form.

Yeah, terrible outing by Harang. I have to think his better years are well behind him. He didn't do much for us his last two years in Cincy.

From Jim Bowden:

"Bud Black told us his rotation as of now is Latos, Richard, Stauffer, Harang & LeBlanc"

I hope Harang succeeds in that rotation but I doubt he will. I dont think he has much left in his tank, his days of being a good starter are gone.

Fantastic move, Walt!

As usual, Walt continues to make all the right moves. (when he's not handcuffed by Dusty Baker's requests that override his more intelligent decisions)

Exactly what the team needed to transition the Mesoraco/Grandel arrivals.
