I know we scored, but I hate that approach from Francisco. Wellemeyer is all over the place and he's up there hacking. Swung & missed on the first 2, then a sac fly. Now Alonso's swinging on the first pitch too. Frustrating.

Thom & Jim both said he played it badly but managed to make the catch. I'm assuming they mean his route. From the sounds of the announcers and the comments from Dusty, Hermida would be more of a liability defensively out there in left than Gomes would be.

I think it is mostly from him never really playing left much before, so he's not used to how the ball comes off the bat. Even with that his range would be better than Gomes and as he got used to playing in left field the routes would get better.

I could see him starting in AAA and if he gets going good bringing him after a month or two, kind of like how Gomes was handled in 2009. Getting everyday playing time would allow him to get some improvement on his routes. Although I don't know if there would be any room for him in AAA to get playing time in LF.

Well, that's the thing. We've got Frazier, Francisco & Alonso too. All 3 have been tagged for LF at one time or another and all 3 STILL have no set position that I can see. This is the season IMO that we settle those 3 bats down into a regular fielding position. This merry go round needs to stop with these 3. If Hermida doesn't make the big club...I think we'd be better served to cut him loose.

Maybe they could send him to AA and let Alonso play at AAA every day. That way we could have two hitters polishing their left field skills for the second half. :D
