If you have mlb.com audio, you can listen to this one. Royals radio is available throught that medium.

It just started. Arroyo on the bump for Cincy and close to an Opening Day line-up with the exception of Renteria in at SS for Janish.

Two quick outs for Arroyo, then a single to Butler, and a long home run from Kihuae (that spelling is wrong, I know). Man but does Pecota love Kihuae, by the way, for those of you in fantasy drafts.

Montgomery on the mound for the Royals, isn't he one of their hotshot prospects? I could look it up, but...I'm being lazy.

Anyway, 2-0 Royals bottom of 1. Stubbs was just sent away on three pitches. Dusty's line-up is Stubbs/Phillips/Votto/Rolen/Gomes/Bruce/Renteria/Hanigan .

For those of you that look for signs of good things in spring, Phillips just worked his rear end off to get a walk.

Then, sadly, all his effort was wasted when Joey grounded into a first pitch double play.

2-0 Royals after one.

Conclusions thusfar? The whole season looks emperiled. The Reds are clearly not ready.

Somewhere Benihana got excited as Alex Gordon doubles off the wall in right to start the KC second. He's probably trying to put together a Hamilton/Grandal/Leake package to get him.

Former Brewer Escobar singles in Gordon. Bruce, in spring training mode, was off with his throw home. 3-0 KC.

We are not quite to getting-his-work-in territory for Arroyo, but I am starting to dust off that phrase.

Not sure he will be getting enough AB's. Royals have lots of good young hitters. But if he does, I would agree with Pecota.

Arroyo digs deep, thinks of his JTM commercials, and honors the spirit of his tireless flogging of Grade D beef from two years ago by working out of it.

3-0 Royals middle of 2.

Unless I am missing something, the job at 1b is his w/ Butler at DH.

Gomes grounds out to 2nd. 13 new threads on Gomes start on ORG.

Montgomery no-hitter intact through 2. 3-0 Royals.

Stubbs says no-soup-for-you to butler w/ a diving catch to save extra bases to start 3rd.

Arroyo decides Royal blue is not same as Blue Jay blue and allows no runs in 3rd. 3-0 Royals still.

Renteria breaks up the no-hitter w/ a bad hop single.

Hanigan celebrates his new contract w/ a single. Two on, none out. Lewis up as DH.

Lewis narrowly avoids a DP w/ some hustle. 1st and 3rd for stubbs.

Royals announcer going on and on about Stubbs' Ks last year. Fresh stuff, there.

For now. Royals expect Moustakas and Hosmer to push Ka'ahiua at some point this season.

Btw, thanks for the late night play by play

Stubbs makes contact, royals announcer meme ruined. force play, rbi, 3-1 game.

no prob on pbp, trying to keep it light.

Phillips w/ a looping lineout to SS.

3-1 after 3, Royals lead.

As for Hosmer and Matsoukas, Next, yeah, they're close, but I think Matsoukas stays at 3b, and Hosmer will have to be really crushing it to force KC's hand for 2011. I think they are high on the hawaiaan at 1b, and maybe Butler ultimately gets moved to make room.

Alex Gordon with a bloop single. Benihana readies a trade proposal of Chapman/Leake/Wood/Alonso/Mes/Grandal for him.

Hanigan throws out Gordon as Gordon tries to steal 2nd. Benihana removes Chapman from his trade proposal.

I guess it's good it's still spring training for some time......

You're kidding, right? You took that seriously?

Really?

Because, if so, I am ducking out of this thread. I am not really in the mood to have clearly tongue-in-cheek stuff read literally.

Have a good one.

Reds down 5-3 in the bottom of the ninth. Gil survives shaky inning surrendering two walks and a single but no runs after Hernandez guns down a Royal stealing second. Alonso plays his first LF of the spring and ends the inning with a successful catch. Up for the Reds: Cairo, Francisco and then Alonso.

Guacarock
03-17-2011, 12:24 AM
Cairo and Francisco both whiff, Alonso reaches 1st on fielding error. Up to Chris Heisey to save the day. A dinger would give us a tie.

Heisey singles. Two men on for Janish.

Guacarock

Nope. Janish fails to collect his first spring RBI. It's over -- 5 to 3 in the Royals' favor.

I was really enjoying the tongue-in-cheek stuff. I thought it was obvious that you were joking.

Thanks camisa. I clearly was. If I am going to do this, especially in the spring, I like to keep it light. I thought that was coming through. At any rate, no biggie, just decided to head somewhere else on the nets and will leave this oh-so-serious endeavor to others per usual for other games. This board could, in my opinion, definitely lighten up in general.
