vs. Marcum

Interesting to see RR getting the start so soon... guess it took one game (with 2 hits) for Janish to lose the starting job. (jk)

Curious as to why Gomes is batting ahead of Bruce against a righty.

Hanigan in to catch Wood.

I won't be here tonight. Yeah, I no what I said earlier, but... circumstances have changed.

Gomes has a .000/.000/.000 line versus Marcum in his career, so that might be the reason for the move ahead of Bruce.

I really don't understand the complete lack of recognition when it comes to platoon splits. Pretty disappointed to see Janish on the bench, but the Sun Deck pointed out that Renteria is 4-8 against Marcum.

Funny how the people who deride stat heads make silly decisions based on crappy use of stats.

Maybe Janish is going to play 70% of the time and this is one game where Baker wants to play Edgar. I wouldn't read too much into it just yet.

I think you'll see Rolen play tomorrow. Off day Friday, off day Monday, I would guess he is going.

I understand why Renteria is playing (not saying I like it, but I understand it), but what's the logic behind flipping Gomes and Bruce? That really makes zero sense.

Maybe, but right now it's 50/50.If Janish is really the everyday SS then why is he sitting in the second game of the season following an off day and coming off an opening day in witch he collected himself two hits while playing flawless defense?

One time everyone wigged out b/c Ramon pinch hit instead of Nix and we found out later that Nix was unavailable b/c of a bad back. Maybe Janish has the flu. Maybe he got mono from Arroyo. Maybe he got benched b/c he said bad things on Twitter. :) Maybe they want Janish playing tomorrow b/c they'll need his range with Cairo and/or Juan playing 3B.

Like I said before, we shouldn't read too much into it.

Not picking on anybody. Just saying that base runners are a lot more valuable than extra bases. And that's especially true when there are no outs, the heart of the lineup coming up and the base runner will score from 2B on any hit.

I get what Rick is saying as well...it was not the most ideal time to run...we all can agree on that. But at years end Stubbs pros on the basepaths will out weigh his cons...so I'm not gonna pull my hair out over it.

I continue to say that The Christ Hospital cardiac unit should sponsor Cordero's appearances. The guy sitting by my wife and me said, first 20,000 fans get free defibrillator!

He's clearly in mid-season form, but chalk up the save and the win and 5000 heart attacks.

Pitching win right there.

Wood was fantastic. That cutter on the outside corner vs. righties is unhittable. Cool customer out there, and a great athlete. He could win a lot of games this year.
Masset was on. Had his good command and good stuff. Not easy to make Rickie Weeks look bad.
I know Cordero gave up a run, but his stuff was decent. Didn't walk anybody, either. His line won't look good, but I thought it was an OK outing overall.
