Maybe he plays better when he doesn't have to play everyday?

From what I hear, Renteria is getting shots against pitchers he has had previous success before, but Janish has definitely played more. If that works out to a more Hernanigan type situation, then isn't that better for the team overall?

Unless Janish hits .444 for the whole season, in which case he will be NL MVP and we will probably win the World Series. Win-Win.

Well edgar is hitting 600 so That 1000 between them LOL!!!!!!

My point is Janish has to be the SS for the next 10-12 years, let him play and get better at the plate.

I agree with the point that Janish needs to be the regular short stop the majority of the season as he's the best defender and his improvement with the bat has continued from last season. I think he has a good chance to go the All Star game this season if that keeps up.

However, he's not going to be the everyday SS for 10 years. He's already 28 years old. I think he's the everyday SS for another four years, and then someone else will take the spot (possibly Billy Hamilton).

I'm a big Janish supporter, but its amazing to me that this thread exists.

How could you possibly think we should be getting MORE production out of our shortstop position? Dusty could not be hitting any more than he is on getting production out of these guys.

Renteria needs to be starting everyday, there is absolutely no argument that can be made against this fact.

True. True.

All Managers should be void of criticism during April and May. There are at least 10,000 factors one must consider went putting lineups together, and those of us here are probably privy to no more than 10 of them, leaving 9,990 factors involved which we have no clue about their prominence and relative placement when Dusty considers what his lineup is going to be on any given night.

I couldn't help making this comment. But, I really don't believe in judging managers on their lineup selections during the first two months of the season, unless it's something that's so blatantly obviously wrong that it's painful to watch, such as Corey Patterson making the team, yet alone batting leadoff most games, or Cabrera batting leadoff.

When player's show an obvious inability to get on base the last two years, and they are on the "downside" of their careers, then something does need to be said. But, for the most part, Dusty gets carte blanche for all lineup moves. Since there aren't any Corey Patterson's or Orlando Cabrera's on the team this year, Dusty gets the free pass....at least until June gets here.

I think a 70/30 split is about right with Janish getting the majority of playing time. By doing this you keep both of them fresh. Renteria is the current WS MVP. He can be a valuable part of this team, while keeping Janish from wearing down as the season goes on.

Yeah there is. There's plenty and it starts with his age.

I'm with it. King Janish needs to start at least 9 of 10.
