Love this line-up. Let's hope the weather holds off so we can get this game in. The radar really doesn't look too bad right now and the hourly shows that we should be able to get 5 innings in. Was there recently a rule change about how a game ends due to rain? I thought I saw that somewhere. Is the game still called if five innings have passed or if the home team is leading after four and a half or do they have to finish the game at a later time?

Word on 700 most of the afternoon was no more rain until after midnight. Hope they were right.

I think it goes something like this:
If 5 innings have passed and both teams have had an equal # of atbats then the game is done & whoever is leading wins but if the visiting team has had an extra at bat then the game is suspended to be finished later.

Sounds fair to me.

I really wish the Reds had a roof.If there's any chance of rain and I haven't bought tickets yet I don't go.I was planning on making the trip from Columbus with a friend tonight but even with the now slightly optimistic forecast I'm not taking the chance.I know I can watch the game in HD for free if they play and if they don't I've got some good NBA action going on.I'll support our boys another day.

How silly do those WINNING shirts that this team was wearing after sweeping the Brewers look now. The start of this season can't be considered anything other than a disappointment, especially when you consider that it started 5-0 then played the Astros, Dbacks, Padres and Dbacks the next 12 games - and won 4 of them.

Completely overrated club IMO, though they're certainly not this bad. Get a couple of guys to hit and a pitcher or two back and I think they'll tread water this year. So, I guess I wouldn't be entirely disappointed in the results.

Depressing bunch around here. The offense sucks, the pitching sucks, we're overrated, we're pitiful. Sounds like a bunch of Cardinal players with all the whining. At the end of the day guys, we're in first place, we've scored more runs than ANY team in the MAJORS, and we've got two workhorses coming back from the DL in a week or two. Guys will get healthy, guys will start to hit more like their norms, the starters will start to go deeper into games and the bullpen will start to get more rest. Relax, take a deep breath, and remember that this is a marathon...not a sprint.

Well said. If you would have told me that 2 starters would start the year on the DL and that we would be in 1st place after 17 games, I would have been completely satisfied with that. The offense is nothing to worry about if you followed this group last year. Deeper, more consistent quality starts will even everything out, and it sounds like Cueto and Bailey may be pretty close to trying to help contribute to that.

I hated the move. Never, ever give away an out in that situation unless you are fairly certain the next hitter can get the runner home. Oh well, life goes on and we get to watch them go at it again tomorrow. That is one of the best things about baseball, eh?

Last year April was a shaky month, finished at 12-11 thanks to a 5 game winning streak at the end of the month, had a negative run differential by 20 runs. They were still floundering around .500, a game under through May 7. Funny to revisit that considering where they ended.

I was telling my wife last night that baseball is a game of streaks. When the team is going good, playing every day makes things a lot of fun. But when the team is in a funk, you start hoping for rain outs.

There sure has been a lot of volatility in contenders so far this year, all around the league. Historically, probably a pretty typical first 2-1/2 weeks of the season.

Going to be knockdown, dragout this year, I think. If I had to bet on a team in the Central right now, give me Milwaukee. But injuries will play a huge role, ultimately.
