By definition if you have a negative WAR, 1) you are contributing more to your teams losing than winning, and 2) you can be easily replaced with a player that should add more value you than. At the just over 1/4 point of this season the reds have the following negative WAR players:
1) Gomes - 3 positive WAR seasons in career, 4 negative.
2) Volquez - 2x as many walks as anyone else on the team
3) Renteria - aged vet, make him a coach or something
4) Rolen - only walked 4x all season
5) Fred Lewis - limited PAs, but historically barely over 1 WAR for an entire season
They are all expendable from a performance standpoint, better options exist. Anyone else agree?
