View Full Version : What do you do with Bronson?

He is not healthy, not given how he is performing. However we are already looking a to many pitchers on the DL. He is scheduled to go this friday vs. the Dodgers, to me anything less then 6-7 innings and 3 or fewer runs and you have to consider DL'ing him, even if that means bringing EV back up early.

I think i read that EV is going to have one more start at AAA and then is scheduled to return anyhoo

Once another starter, most likely Volquez, returns Bronson needs to be put on the DL and given time off to recover from his case of mono. In reality, he may not be back to his usual form until next season, but the fact of the matter is that he needs time off from traveling with the club. I'm sure that the travel alone is draining enough.

He is batting .361 with 17HR & 48RBI in AAA this season

He's lost a little off his fastball and his home run rate is up. Other than that, he's been better than last year. That 3.88 ERA from last year was a mirage.

This is just the pitcher Arroyo is. Everyone on here built him up as the best pitcher on the team during the offseason but he's just not dominant. He'll have some games where all the balls in play go to fielders and other games where all the balls in play go to spots in the field. He's had a few more games this year where they go to spots and out of the park, but he'll normalize and get his ERA to the 4-5 range by the end of the season.

Bronson's career numbers: 1st half ERA 4.77. Second half ERA 3.66.

I just think as a finesse pitcher it takes him a bit longer to fine-tune all his deliveries. Bronson will be fine. He needs to be anyway.

What do you do with Bronson?.... Not sign him to a contract extension!
Oh wait....too late.

These are the time that most of us non-Bronson Arroyo resigning supporters foreseen. Coco Cordero is only the whipping boy for another 4 monthes. Arroyo will get the torch for the next 2 years after that day.

He is recovering and probably has lingering effects of Mono. Is having back problems.

1. That was two months ago.
2. Happens all the time. Oswalt had them recently and he allowed two runs tonight, 1 run the game before. You deal with him.
3. This is the pitcher Arroyo is, exactly what I expected of him. What is his ability?

Skip a start. He heals quickly. (God help us with whoever gets his start)!!

Seems every year Arroyo goes through a strech where he can't get ANYBODY out....I was surprised he avoided it last year. I think he may just be going through one of those periods. Seems like when he comes out of them, he's just untouchable for a while, so I think you've go to let him work through it.
