All of the warnings and suggestions to deal with the heat at GABP today simply crack me up. It's supposed to get up to about 95 today there, right?

*looks out his window* 102...already. I saw it get up to 105 yesterday. But of course I'm probably biased as I live on the surface of the freaking sun. We saw rain 2 days ago for about 10 minutes. First rain I've seen since the first of the year here. Major drought.

Gameday has them as change ups?

_Sir_Charles_
06-08-2011, 12:46 PM
Brandon HBP.

I know they're listed as changeups...Brantley's saying they're clearly fastballs with no velocity. Guessing he couldn't get loose, thus the loss of velocity.

I think he may be right. Dempster's usually around 93-95 right? 87 fastest so far.

Dusty Baker probably has some convoluted mathematical formula for Johnny Gomes that essentially gives Gomes "X" number of starts per hit.

A 4-hit game might keep him in the everyday lineup through Labor Day.

Since that game Gomes has 22 PAs. For reference, Bruce has 42. He isn't overly starting JG and, to be honest, Gomes has looked better since being benched. He has produced.

Dusty Baker probably has some convoluted mathematical formula for Johnny Gomes that essentially gives Gomes "X" number of starts per hit.

A 4-hit game might keep him in the everyday lineup through Labor Day.

It's not like Lewis or Heisey look great. Flewis has played pretty darned poorly since he's been here. Has looked ridiculous fielding wise.

Believe me, I'm not a fan of Gomes' overall game, but I think at this point it's more of a problem of having ANYONE good than it is deciding which guy to put in the line-up. Using Heisey is probably the best idea against righties (and Gomes vs. lefties), but the overall difference over the long haul is dimmering.
