Darn. Close. Jay nearly had one there. But it's just a loud out to Bautista. 0-0 after 1 full.

- Reds first.
- Stubbs grounded out, second baseman A.Hill to first baseman Lind.
- B.Phillips grounded out, shortstop Y.Escobar to first baseman Lind.
- Votto singled to left.
- Bruce flied out to right fielder Bautista.

Reds 0 - Jays 0 after 1 complete.

WebScorpion
06-19-2011, 01:37 PM
- Blue Jays second.
- A.Hill flied out to center fielder Stubbs.
- J.Rivera grounded out, third baseman Cairo to first baseman Votto.
- Arencibia flied out to center fielder Stubbs.

Reds 0 - Jays 0 after 1 and a half.

Anyone know what that 63 mph sidearm thing is Arroyo throws now? I think he got the second strike on Lind with it in the first inning and I was looking for it again, but haven't seen it.

- Reds second.
- Cairo popped out to first baseman Lind.
- F.Lewis doubled to right.
- Renteria flied out to left fielder J.Rivera.
- Hanigan grounded out, third baseman Jo.McDonald to first baseman Lind.

Reds 0 - Jays 0 after 2 complete.

FWIW, Gameday says that sidearm thing of Arroyo's is a slider.

WebScorpion
06-19-2011, 01:50 PM
- Blue Jays third.
- Jo.McDonald grounded out, third baseman Cairo to first baseman Votto.
- C.Villanueva grounded out, shortstop Renteria to first baseman Votto.

Still no score after 3 complete.

Man, if I didn't know any better, I would say Jose Bautista has some serious 'roid rage going on. He takes a third strike right on the corner of the zone but acts like it was some travesty of a call.

But I don't think there's anything at all to be suspicious about when it comes to Bautista. Clearly guys go from hitting 15 HRs to 50 no problem. It's a natural progression for baseball players.

It's good that you know better though because it wouldnt be fair to just accuse players based upon nothing but supposition.

Besides the called third strike was clearly a ball and it elicited a very predictable response.

- Reds third.
- Arroyo struck out.
- Stubbs flied out to left fielder J.Rivera.
- B.Phillips lined out to center fielder C.Patterson.

- Blue Jays fourth.
- C.Patterson popped out to shortstop Renteria.
- Bautista struck out.
- Lind lined out to center fielder Stubbs.

Sorry, I was away for a bit.

Bruce, Renteria, and Stubbs have all sent the ball within a few feet of the wall. We're close...

Cairo has converted me.

To quote Eric Clapton "Let it Rain"

Cairo gets a lot of grief from some folks on RedsZone because he isn't a sexy player. He doesn't have a lot of power, he isn't fast, and he's a 35-year-old utility infielder. But all I know is that I want him on my bench, and I feel confident in his ability to contribute--whether as a pinch-hitter or as a spot starter. He knows his role.

Absolutely no excuse for Dusty allowing Arroyo to hit there. Hopefully that doesn't come back to cost the Reds the game. Arroyo won't finish the 8th inning. So, Dusty gave up an out in a 1-run game to allow Arroyo to face one batter? A clearly-gassed Arroyo no less? Wow. Might as well use a pitch-hitter there and at least go for an insurance run. There was only one out when Bronson batted. Terrible on Dusty's part IMO.

I thought Dotel was a gas can...known to implode in key spots

He is a gas can but the Reds wouldn't let him be that this weekend. I would guess 75% of his pitches were out of the strike zone. But the Reds kept swinging at them and popping them up.

Good win to avoid the sweep. The hitting is anemic and it had better come out that funk now. The Yankees are really the Bronx Bombers this season. I'm sure they are licking their chops at the prospects of GABP. The Reds will have to put up some runs these next three games if they expect to win. Cueto really needs to give them a good outing tonight.
