Since June 16th, the Louisville Bats have been hitting just as terribly (in comparison) to the Major League REDS. Every guy on the team in Louisville (except the least likely one, Valaika) has been hitting about 200-500 OPS points less than what they had been all season, which was tearing it up at an All-Star pace.

Things happen. The REDS' pitching continues to improve. And, that's what will keep us in contention. You can't say the same thing about Louisville pitching.

How does the Louisville Bats, and the Reds both having issues mean that there is no reason to worry, or try to fix the offense by makin a move? I wouldn't say im a member of the "chicken little" crowd, but at the same time I think it would be ignorant to say there aren't some serious concerns regarding this team.

Here is a little perspective for you. On June 6th Louisville was one game back. If the results of tonight's game stay the same they will be 8.5 back. So yes, a slump is a concern because a team can lose a lot of ground in a hurry.

Ahh... they are 8.5 out because Columbus is winning at a 1927 Yankees pace. They're hitting is fine, it's the carousel of pitching that's killed them, they've already had 30 different guys pitch for them this year. Matt Maloney will help.

I'd love it if the Reds could match the Bats slump - only Votto, Hernandez and Bruce are matching the slumping Bats: Frazier's obviously struggled badly lately, but they still have 3 guys OPSing over 850 the last 10 games. 3 more at 750+

This thread was only talking about the time since June 16th, that's five or six games. Not 10 games. The REDS hit great during the Dodgers series.

That said, Scott Rolen's career is over. Renteria should not be wearing a REDS' uniform. Neither should Cairo.
