Dusty's take

"We got a real good one -- young Price against young Cueto," Cincinnati manager Dusty Baker said. "One's right and one's left. Price is one of the toughest pitchers, not only in the American League, but one of the top pitchers in baseball. And so is Johnny. It should be a heck of a matchup."

The key is to try do what the Yankees and Red Sox do. Make Price throw a lot of pitches and get him out by the 6th inning and take your chances with the bullpen. But if both these pitchers are "on" the game could be over in about 2 hours.

Cueto at 75 pitches through 6. 47 strikes, 28 balls.

The bats will wake up for their once-per-series appearance on Saturday vs. the Tribe, and not sooner.

Predictably, the RZ "the offense isn't the problem" crowd will credit Price and say it's hard to beat him. That argument would be far easier to make if almost every starter these days didn't completely shut this offense down.

With today's loss, the Reds are now alone in 4th place. Is it still "early"? Is it still comforting that we're only 4 games back?
