Pujols has been activated-but is not in the lineup
http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20110705&content_id=21433292&vkey=news_mlb&c_id=mlb

Pujols will not be in the lineup but presumably will be available to pinch-hit when the Cardinals play host to the Reds at Busch Stadium at 6:09 p.m. CT. Left-handed reliever Brian Tallet, who has a right intercostal strain, was placed on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to Monday, to make room for Pujols.

See if this inspires them.

Don't post much in game threads so forgive me this intrusion my Reds fan brethren, but I'm simply tired of watching Volquez pitch. Even when he's mediocre he's not inspiring any confidence its going to be better anytime soon. The best we can hope for it seems like is a 4.50 ERA out of him each game [6IP 4 ER seems to be a repeated line from him of late].

Where's Willis? Hell where's Scott Carroll? I'll take just about anything over EV right now.

Has nothing to do with his intelligence. He's just bad.I think it has everything to do with his intelligence. The Berkman HR was because he was looking for a first pitch fastball and Volquez gave him (a hittable) one. A smart pitcher doesn't give Berkman a first pitch fastball there. Berkman just outguessed him. A pitcher needs to outthink the hitters...being predictable is a pitchers bane. Couple that with questionable control and you have 2011 Volquez. :(

Chris cant decide whether the Reds should play small ball or long ball...

Waiting around for the 3-run bomb is what's killing this team. They've got to get back to manufacturing runs. As unexciting as that run was there, had it happened at any point last night, there's a good chance the Reds win (or at least don't lose like they did).

Every night it is a new candidate for the goat. Stubbs, Bruce, BP for a bit, LF, SS, the only guys with zero liability this season are really Votto, Ramon and Cordero. When there are that many guys falling down, it's hard to make enough changes to really make a difference.

There are options available to him in AAA that won't cost a thing. And, as GM, he should be able to do something about Chris Heisey's lack of playing time. It's outrageous and borderline delusional for Dusty to think that this club, as currently constructed, is just days away from reeling off a serious winning streak. And Walt's stated contentedness with this roster ("We're happy with what we have") is beyond ridiculous. And each error that Janish makes further devalues Jocketty's argument that he is contributing in valuable ways other than offense.
