This is quickly becoming a very sick joke. We all better pray Phillips snaps out of his slump or it might be another night of Votto/Cozart and nobody else.

Gotta hope for a gem out of Leake today.

If Rolen can't play, then DL him. Bruce in a horrible slump is better than Lewis at his best any day of the week. We are right off the AS break. Why is he resting?

Fred Lewis is 2 for 4 lifetime against McDonald, while Bruce is a measly 2 for 5 with a homer against him. So you see, it really all adds up when you boil it down to gibberish.

A lot of times I think the criticism of Dusty is completely unfair on Redszone. Tonight however, Dusty can defend himself. Thursday is an off day and this team badly needs to win right now.

July 19th and still zero urgency. It is starting to get old. I'm going to be pissed when we're sitting at .500 on Sept. 6th and Dusty and/or Walt says "Its only the first week of September."

The update from Dusty acccording to Fay's twitter is he is giving Rolen one more night off tonight and he should be back tomorrow. Of course he said the same thing last night.

Bruce is also getting just a day off and he plans on giving Phillips an day off soon.

My lineup:

Ghost Runners: Stubbs, Dontrelle & Lewis.

Win.

Of course. I could't get my head around how to get more Votto at bats and completely forgot about ghost runners.

Actually wouldn't those guys be designated runners if we had them actually running. Kind of like in softball when we had the injured guys who got run for straight out of the batters box.

This sounds ominous. We could an interesting get away lineup tomorrow! Or does it mean Dusty is skipping the game to do more napping in Montana?

“I’ve got some other plans for tomorrow, so he’ll be in there tomorrow,” Baker said. “It’s better for him and us, another day, then we play one (Wednesday) and we have an off-day on Thursday.”
http://cincinnati.com/blogs/reds/

also from Fay

Jay Bruce also is being rested tonight. Bruce has gone 2-for-13 (.154) with no extra base hits and no RBI since playing in the All-Star Game. Baker said that Brandon Phillips, o-for-11 since his walk-off homer against St. Louis on Friday, also will get a day off soon.

No more Fred Lewis. Please!

My goodness. All the talent down in Louisville and we continually play this guy.

We're always slow to make a move. Just keep trotting out the replacement level to below replacement-level talent. If Cozart was called up earlier we might even have an extra win or two, but no let's just have patience with non-performers like Lewis and never hurt anyone's feelings.

Yawn.

Bruce not being in the lineup when the game started was stupid. Bringing him in to face a tough lefty with the game on the line is moronic. I'm sick of Dusty Baker, if nothing else, I hope he and his lifetime supply of toothpicks are out of the Queen City in 2012.

I'm not sitting here as a swing at everything approach. That's not a very fair discussion on your part.

I'm saying Stubbs vs a huge strikeout pitcher, if he takes strike one down the middle, I have seen that at bat enough to know how Stubbs generally finishes it. He swung at a strike and didn't do anything with it. Whatever it happens, doesnt mean the decision was that poor.

If he lined it into the gap for three runs the decision would still be the same, yet I'm sure you wouldn't be criticizing Stubbs for the decision.

But alas, the Sox score more runs because they take srike one, not because they have 8 great hitters.
