Has any of the so called baseball trade rumor sites ever got a deal right before it happened? Like right now MLB traderumors.com is saying the Rays want to top prospects and some major league ready talent for Shields. So have they ever been right or even close?

I've often wondered this myself. It seems like anyone can start a rumor about anything now days and it goes viral. I'd estimate that 99.5% of all trade rumors never even materialize.

Probably these trades are "discussed," just as they always were. However, 15+ (even 5 or 10 for part of it) years ago, there wasn't the Twitter Machine to dissect every possibility...ESPN wasn't the power they are now..etc.
