View Full Version : 8.2.11 Reds @ Astros

Heavy right-handed lineup tonight

Drew Stubbs 8
Edgar Renteria 6
Joey Votto 3
Brandon Phillips 4
Miguel Cairo 5
Chris Heisey 9
Ramon Hernandez 2
Todd Frazier 7
Homer Bailey 1
v. Wandy Rodriguez LHP
7-7, 3.47 ERA

Rodriguez has worked seven innings in each of his last two starts, allowing a combined three earned runs. He last faced the Reds on May 11, allowing three runs in seven innings, and the Astros have won his last five outings against the Reds at Minute Maid Park.

• Bailey will be making his third start of the season against the Astros and, if the prior two are any indication, it should be a tough night for the Houston offense. The right-hander is 2-0 with a 0.69 ERA and 12 strikeouts in 13 innings against Houston. Current Astros are hitting .195 against Bailey with no extra-base hits.

Bruce is 1-for-23 v. Wandy Rodriguez. Frazier is in left for the first time. He’s supposed to be pretty good defensively out there.

Sorry to hear about that Cincy. God bless you with whatever you're going through.

Good luck!... though if you're looking for something to lift your spirits in the hospital, I wouldn't recommend watching the Reds. :(;)

Nothing to be sorry about at all, in fact the reason I am here is a blessing. My wife gave birth to my newborn son yesterday morning! :) Best thing in my life to happen to me.

We took in our first Reds game together yesterday, and the Reds failed to deliver my son a win.. Now there is something you can be sorry for! ;)

Congratulations! And yep, you're absolutely right about the best thing to happen part. Got 4 girls myself and while there ARE days I want to bang their heads together...I wouldn't trade one minute spent with them. Well...maybe that minute when my oldest flushed my keys down the toilet. Nah...it was funny looking back.

Reds up 1-0 in the 5th after Hernandez doubles in Heisey (who also doubled). Bailey walked and now Stubbs walked, sacks are jammed with only one out. Renteria up.

A friend of mine went last summer and came away raving about it. I don't know about the best vantage points, but he was down along the third base line and said the view was incredible.

I went last year and the park has been blessed by the baseball gods. I sat along the first base side upper level. The views are amazing. Since they were playing the nationals I actually spent a lot of time just walking around the park. Get there early and enjoy all there is to see. San Fran is one of my favorite vacation spots.

Funny you should mention that. That was the one part of the game I listened to on WLW rather than watch on FSN. Brantley really did say a whole lot of nothing.

Thanks. We bought a couple of tickets off of StubHub down in section 109 along the 1st base side for just $35 each. Not sure why they were that low. We'll be coming off of a trip up to Muir Woods earlier in the day, so it will be fun to take in a ballgame that night.

Thank you everyone for the well wishes and congratulations! The newborn Reds fan is doing well. :)

Reds are 1 and 1 since my boy joined the world. Should be 2 and 0, but hopefully this win is the start of another streak.

Maybe since the Rally Onion is nowhere to be found this year, my son can step up as the Rally Baby, and the Reds can find a way to get back in it and win this thing! :) ;)

:thumbup:Totally agree. I watched this game as long as I could before bedtime. I would have watched it all if not for this getting up for work thing. I watched the Reds all through the lost decade, well most of it. So even though this season has been frustrating it's still better than watching most of those Reds teams from 2003 to 2008.

There were some late in season in like 2007,08 etc.. that had less than 20 posts. I can't blame people for moving on when they have families to do things with.

Was the loss on the day the baby was born? Perhaps the baby's full power wasn't in effect yet? Of course, keep the baby away from the Rally Onion. If he gobbles that up, he'll be the little stinker.

cincyinco
08-03-2011, 03:52 PM
The loss was on the day he was born, but I won't discount the Rally Baby power even with the tough loss.. After all, let's remember we got 8 innings or so of 3 run ball out of our worst starting pitcher.. ;)

And maybe if he did eat the Rally Onion their powers would combine and they would be one with the "rally-ness'! I could put up with some smells from hell, if it means the Reds get back in this thing. A small sacrifice and price to pay for winning baseball :)
