This news broke earlier today, during the site's brief outage.

I have a feeling he could play through it if need be, but the f/o is waving the white flag on this season and looking towards next year. By that I mean they won't make any moves and assume all our current players will either maintain their good production from this season or magically become better ballplayers by next season.

Didn't he just hyperextend a ligament? Why surgery?

Better to fix it correctly now. The last thing we need is for it to carry over to next year. Cozart is the first SS since Larkin that I have been excited about.
