Byrd is 33 and his SLG% has been trending down a good 30-40 points the past 2 years. His OBP is decent but not great. Would be great to have him on the team and his bat in the lineup the next couple years but am afraid the Reds would have to give up too much. He likely will begin his slide downward.

Castro...tantalizing talent. Only 21. Has not yet learned how to really prepare himself, expecially in the field (if you watched the Cards game last night you know this), but he is only 21! Errors are a problem but he can really hit. I would see how Cozart does next year and then see what happens. Castro will want tons of money sometime soon and the Reds would have a hard time paying him in the future. Cozart should be given a shot first IMO.
