.....would you want him?

They are discussing this on the ORG, with the initial comment that it will never happen, but let's discuss anyway.

He's either 31 or will be 31 next season. I didn't look it up, but read it off of ORG.

I'm not sure I'd be interested because I think he wants a long term contract (7 or 8 years), and history has shown us what happens to players after about 34 or 35. I read that his walks are down, and those in the know say that was the first sign of Griffey's decline because they start swinging at pitches sooner because they're slowing down.

I'd probably say no long term.

Not for what he wants and I personally believe he's older than 31. He's clearly showing signs of a decline and while he might pull several good months here and there and possibly one more great season in the next five to seven years, it will not be worth what he'll cost.

If we could afford him, maybe then. 3rd base is looking a little ugly right now even with Rolen coming back. Pujols started a few games at third and looks pretty darn good. Pujols and Votto = nice 3 and 4 hitter.

If we're ignoring the money I'd still rather have Votto. I don't think he's peaked yet.

We have Votto.

And Alonso behind him. No thanks on Pujols.

I would love him.. but he's worth twice as much to the cardinals...
who knows if he really is 31, I personally doubt that.

Sounds like a bad contract.
