Sappelt 7,
Votto 3,

v. Javier Vazquez, RHP
7-11, 4.67 ERA

Javier Vazquez, who takes the hill for Florida in the first game, is also looking for his first win in August. The right-hander has pitched well in his last four outings, allowing eight earned runs on 19 hits in 26 innings with 23 strikeouts and just four walks. Vazquez allowed three earned runs over six innings in his latest outing at San Diego, at one point retiring 14 batters in a row after a slow start.

I keep re-reading the lineup for Alonso's name.

I keep re-reading the lineup for Alonso's name.

Dusty doesn't believe in the hot hand. He also supposedly believes in defense in left field, even though there's been plenty of evidence to suggest otherwise.

There is no reason in the world why Alonso shouldn't have started in LF. I don't care if he can't chew gum and run at the same time. The guy can flat out hit and he needs to play as much as possible.

Did Dusty really just have Phillips bunt Homer to 3rd for Dave Sappelt? My God.........

That Votto guy is okay.

It looks like Sappelt might be under instructions to look at a strike. He took the second pitch right down the middle, and then on the first pitch he was allowed to swing it, he went after a high pitch he couldn't handle.

3-3 at the end of 6. Bailey at 92 pitches and hitting 2nd in the top of the 7th. Will Dusty pull him knowing he has an extra arm today with logan ready to be activated after game 1 or will he have him keep going because of the DH?

Bailey stayed in and singled. No one else did. Bailey cruised in the bottom half. 102 pitches through 7. 3-3 on to the 8th.

Good thing Alonso didn't allow that triple in the outfield, or Dusty woud be all over him in the media after the game...

6-3 going to the 9th. Unfortunately I was right about Arredondo who was charged with 2 of the 3 runs. Doesn't make sense to not use there unless Logan is not going to be activated for the 2nd game.

- Marlins eighth.
- Arredondo pitching.
- Petersen struck out.
- Bonifacio tripled to center.
- Infante singled to left, Bonifacio scored.
- Bray pitching.
- Morrison singled to right, Infante to third.
- Stanton fouled out to third baseman Frazier.
- Dobbs doubled to right, Infante scored, Morrison scored.
- LeCure pitching.
- Jo.Lopez grounded out, third baseman Frazier to first baseman Votto.
