Aaron Gleeman thinks Joey Votto and Jose Bautista should get some MVP love but won't because the Reds and Blue Jays stink.

Same as it ever was. If the stats are relatively close then the edge goes to the player on winning teams. Nothing new about that. Joey Baseball needs a monster September if he is going to repeat. And even that might not be enough.

I can only wonder what Bautista and Votto's numbers would look like if they weren't constantly being pitched around.

Votto's home runs aren't where they should be but then again he's not a guy that is ever going to hit 40+. Will almost always be in that 25-35 range. Bautista's home runs have slowed way down, but he is not getting the pitches he was in the first half of the season.

Unless you're a Yankee, Red Sox or Philly, you aren't going to have the offensive lineup that protects nearly every player in it, and makes them better. See Jayson Werth last year.

A good lineup around you will help you to get more pitches to hit.

No. He's showing what he's got when they pitch to him while reaiizing he's one of the best in all of MLB.

mvp and hof voting are gonna be interesting to see in about 30 years when the majority of the old bbwaa that love narratives over production have died

It looks like Joe Posnanski has weighed in on this (http://joeposnanski.si.com/2011/08/23/most-productive-player-award/) and is voting for Bautista so maybe he does have a shot.
