Silly question. What lottery did the REDS win that they have to play 8 games vs the Phillies this year? We only get 6 or 7 against other extra-divisional teams.

Had Heisey done them, no one would mention it. The problem is, people are remembering them because their sample is so small to work with that mistakes stand out. Sappelt has misplayed two balls by my count. He has probably caught more than that in which no other left fielder we have catches. But we don't remember the positives. We remember the mistakes. Sappelt has made a number of muffs. He had two in one inning in an earlier game. Maybe he's more comfortable in center.

My problem with Dave is I see little upside. Doesn't hit for power. Doesn't walk much. I'm not a huge Heisey fan, but Chris has a lot more pop in his bat.

Dave seems like a singles hitter without the patience to me. He does make contact usually, which seems like his best attribute.

Well, the Reds are half the team the Phillies are then. :D

You know what, in the middle of the season, I keep forgetting things like payroll. Funny, but I only think about that kind fo thing during the offseason- once the bell rings, at least in my mind, I think all of the teams start from the same starting line.

The money makes the biggest difference during the last 2 months of the season, and during the playoffs, when pitching steps up and takes it's place as the most important part of the game.
