Oh yeah.... and Auburn got lucky yesterday. What a beautiful - if not lucky break - on the on-side kick.

This year I'm also going to a "closet" Northwestern fan. A childhood buddy my brothers and I grew up with in Urbana, Ohio (where I was at yesterday) has a nephew (Nick Vanhoose) that is a freshman on their squad. This kid, in our opinion, is gonna excel at some point for them. He was something else in high school here locally, and was highly sought after by many of the major programs. OSU make a "weak" offer to him, but he got a full ride to Northwestern. But both the offensive and defensive coordinators at NW were fighting over him. We were hoping he'd get in yesterday's game, which was a good one vs Boston College, but it was not to be.

I missed the Thursday night game

Just a few thought s before anyone looks downward at the standings...

Rule #1 - remember, even though I'm the so-called "commish" of this thingy, I still had to take my shoes off and count my toes to get a D in math back in school. So PLEASE, even though I double/triple check everything, check my tabulations of your results for accuracy. I did make a couple errors last year, and thank those that caught them.

Not a good week for the Big 10 with the Iowa, Minnesota, and Purdue losses. And it could have been 4 losses with OSU fighting off Toledo. I didn't get to watch any of the games yesterday as it was Honda's Family Festival at Kings Island. I was able to find a bar there - and I think the only TV in the park - to see the OSU halftime score of 21-15 and said "You gotta be kidding me!" Toledo puts up more total yards, and almost 300 yds of it was through the air? Not good. And I'm not that impressed with Bauserman up to this point.

But those three B10 losses is what screwed a majority of us. Congratulation to Buckeye33, who was the only one to pick Iowa State. I thought it was a game that could go either way.

A majority of us got nailed in the B10 on the Michigan State-Notre Dame and Northwestern-Army games. Slyder was the only one to pick Army. In the other category, the main game were the Auburn-Clemson game. Only Hoosier and thatcoolguy_22 picked Clemson. And a majority of us missed it on the Ohio-Marhsall, Utah-BYU, and UCF-Fla. International games. Overall, no one really tore it up this week as far as picks go. cumberlandreds went 10-2 in the B10, and Hoosier went 8-2 in the other. After that I think it was pretty much down hill LOL

Well, would OSU have won if Miller hadn't gone down? Possible, but Fickle's defense, all of a sudden, had no answers for Husker QB Martinez who took charge. The game is about making adjustments Luke. Bauserman is simply terrible. Doesn't belong on a football field IMO.

That was simply a terrible call against MSU... and a great acting job by the Badger punter. And it hurt even more knowing your guy returned the punt back inside the Badger 5 yd line with plenty of time left on the clock.

In the B10 game, everyone but Slyder picked Wisconsin. And I think Slyder got screwed IMO because that was a bogus call by the ref at the end of the game on the roughing the punter. LOL

That Houston game got all of us in the other category. And they didn't just lose to S. Miss, they got blown out. Same thing with Clemson over Va. Tech.

It was a lot of fun gentlemen.

REMEMBER... As soon as the bowl schedule is announced I'll post it with the point spreads. The last two years we all got roasted pretty good playing the spreads. But it is fun.

The point spread is indicated in red. And the way it works, for those with whom it may not be clear (confusing), we'll use the New Mexico Bowl as an example... Temple (-6) means that Temple is giving Wyoming 6 pts. So if you pick Temple, that means they must win by more then 6.

OK... Here's this season's bowl schedule. Some of the names of these bowls anymore is just laughable. As well as some of the match-ups too. For one... Iowa vs Oklahoma?

The point spread is indicated in red. And the way it works, for those with whom it may not be clear (confusing), we'll use the New Mexico Bowl as an example... Temple (-6) means that Temple is giving Wyoming 6 pts. So if you pick Temple, that means they must win by more then 6.

the bowl season doesn't seem to be very favorable for the Big10 this year. Traveling to other team's backyards, outranked by their opponents, and getting points from Vegas.

Yeah. Now there's a big "dry spell" for me waiting for baseball to start back up with football coming to a close and I'm not much into basketball. LOL

We started a pool last weekend with the NFL playoff games, through the Super Bowl, and last week I came out of that one 1-3. So I need to go 4-0 this weekend to get back in it. Again, this is why I stay out of Vegas. LOL
