Disappointed Yonder Alonso isn't playing every single night. He needs the experience in left field playing nightly would provide. The only way to improve is experience. Would like to see Devin Mesoraco out there every night too.

Sappelt with a 1 out double. The bat is coming around. He's still my CF in 2012 with Stubbs dealt for pitching and Heisey as a fall back..

Alonso in LF in Coors would be legendary.

Janish continues to be a black hole in the lineup. I know defense is important, but we must score runs and Janish continues...well, what I said before.

Hanigan was the man again, sparking the Reds' four-run rally in the sixth inning with a bases-loaded single, scoring two. Janish also contributes an RBI, his first since June 24.

Great game by Homer--good pitching all around. Yonder once again begs for playing time by getting a hit in the 9th, but will not start tomorrow. Go figure.

Codero breaks the Domican save record, the Reds snap a 10-game losing streak in Colorado, and all is well for this night. A 16 post game thread says it all. The lights are on but nobody's home...

Cordero with his 322nd career save, moving into first place all time among Dominican pitchers, passing his mentor, Jose Mesa.

Bet he does.....The TV guys said that Heisey starts tomorrow, but Dusty was undecided about Sunday, FWIW.

No excuse for Alonso not playing most of the time.

Have I ever mentioned that I'm a huge Ryan Hanigan fan? Well I am.

I love his defense, how he handles the pitching staff, his patience at the plate, his ability to get on base and the fact he's tougher than an old boot.

He's the perfect guy to mentor and back up Devon Mesoraco. IMHO.

Here's the Boxscore.

I can't figure this front office out for the life of me.

I don't see any excuse why Hernandez wasn't traded long before the July 31ST deadline, when we could have received something in return.

It seemed pretty evident to most fans that Mesoraco deserved to be promoted and that he and Hanigan could handle the job.

Can't see why it took so long to call Cozart up either.

Can't see why it took so long to call Cozart up either.Hernandez--if the offers were giving him away, I am glad they said no. The Reds are not Odd Lots. That is my guess for why they kept him.

Promoting minor leaguers--I'm guessing that the axiom of "the toughest jump in professional sports is from AAA to the major leagues" was in play. I haven't seen anything out of Mesaroco that said "man, this guy was jobbed. He should have been up here much, much earlier." I'd say he will be an average catcher about right now as a major leaguer. Since we already have two of those, why rush one and not let him simmer a little bit more?

Or maybe their reasons are as you say, just plain don't know what they're doing with more information as well as we fans do with less information.
