No Alonso,Sappelt or Mesoraco. No reason to watch tonight except I probably will. :) Maybe Francisco will hit another one in the river.

3-0 Reds after Razor hits a 3 run shot to left. Middle of 3rd now.

2 run single for Francisco to bump it to 5-0 Redlegs.

Okay, now my head is spinning. Juan swipes 2nd. :O)

Something's wrong with Cueto...

Cueto pulled in the 3rd due to injury. I missed what happened though. Couldn't be TOO serious as they left him in for one extra batter after whatever happened..happened.

Didn't like his body language at all. From his movements and stretches that he was doing it looked like some shoulder discomfort.

LeCure in to steal the win

156 ip for Cueto at this point. Marty pointed out that if he doesn't pitch again this year, he can't qualify for the era title. Must have 162 ip minimum.

Ramon brought his stick. Double to the wall. #250 for his career.

Edgar (2 for 3) plates Ramon with the single. 6-0 good guys.

Coleman yanked.

1-2-3 5th inning for LeCure. Game is official now. Rain on the way.

They're saying it was Cueto's back, not his arm. Strained lat.

_Sir_Charles_

6-1 after a Pena double. Edgar did an 'ole to help start the Cub rally.

6-2 after 5 1/2.

Wow, I didn't realize it was that bad. Since the Pirates were in first place back on July 20th...they've gone 16-38 since. They clinched another losing season today.

Why did Johnny only pitch 3 innings?

Why did Johnny only pitch 3 innings?

He was pulled for precautionary reasons. Seems that it's a strained lat muscle in his back.

Ondrusek in for the 7th. K's the first 2 he faces.

7-2 Reds on Heisey's HR!

_Sir_Charles_
09-14-2011, 09:28 PM
I like Stubbs, I really do, but at this point...the Reds have to give serious consideration to moving him down in the pecking order. Heisey has more dingers and more ribbies than Drew does in HALF the ab's.

Stubbs 566 ab / 15 hr / 42 rbi
Heisey 236 ab / 16 hr / 43 rbi

Yes, Stubbs is a better CF'er...but Heisey is NOT a bad defender there. He's very good too.

Arredondo in for the 9th. Janish in as defensive replacement for Renteria. Ummm...who's managing this game? :O)

WOW. Francisco shows off his RIFLE! Great play, even greater arm. Color me impressed.

2 down.

And this one belongs to the Reds! Ground out to Janish to end it. Excellent job by the bully tonight.

Nice to see Lecure collect a win even if it was by default. His first win of the season, by the way, although he has pitched well out of the pen.

In 5 years, no one will know Heisey's name and Stubbs will be a star--at least that's the chance you gotta take. Stubbs speed is the difference for me and you have to remember Stubbs spent a lot of time leading off. Just the sophomore jinx--something Mike Leake avoided.

You gotta see that replay if you weren't watching the game. It was unbelievable. Say what you want about his defense but you don't make that play unless you've got some serious skills. I don't think the Cincinnati Reds version of Scott Rolen could have made that play. Perhaps the Scott Rolen of ten yrs ago. That play alone tells me that Francisco can play 3B and I'd like to see more of him over there. Let's face it, Rolen is not going to be able to play 3rd on a fulltime basis anymore.

My guess is it'll be the #1 defensive highlight on ESPN tonight

He's been making the routine play with ease, too. Hands look soft enough, throws are on the money. Based on what we've seen since he's been up, his defense is not a concern.

I thought he had a rap that he couldn't stick at third in the big leagues. I could be wrong. I seem to recall the same thing said about Bret Boone at 2B before he played here. The best of all is that Drew Stubbs can't hit for power

Folks say a lot of things about prospects that turn out to be untrue.I think the claim of JF having the strongest arm in the IL holds a lot more merit than the claim that he won't stick at 3B in the big leagues. Last night's play in the 9th certainly made a believer out of me. That is not a play a below average fielder makes even once.

You can sure see how interest in the Reds has waned. This game had two pages of posts as of the final out whereas the game exactly a month ago had 11. Two pages? Didn't we have Spring Training games that went longer than that?

It's not just around here. I got called twice yesterday from different friends offering me Reds tickets. I decided to take them up on tomorrow's game

Definitely true. I've felt like I had my section virtually to myself the past several homestands. I have to admit to not going last night because I was exhausted; in the middle of a pennant race I would have went anyway.

I have two sets of free tickets that I'm using on this homestand (first set was last night, second set is for this coming Tuesday) and we had some good deals for games this weekend so I'll be at all three games vs. the Brewers. I haven't lost my interest in the Reds, even through the rough season, but I have lost a lot of interest in posting here. I can only stand so much before the repetitive negative posts from just about all the same people really get to me. :explode: :runaway: :bang:

BTW-That throw Francisco made last night was ridiculous. I thought for sure he wasn't going to get the guy at first and about jumped out of my skin when he was called out. Amazing throw and good stretch from Joey too on the other end. Great stuff!

Indifference from the front office leads to indifference from the fans.

They reported the attendance of 31K last night. No way there were more than about 18K there. I'm surprised they sold that many tx
