Looks like Dusty is going for the "integrity" of the playoff race. This may be our best chance to win the game tonight, but I do agree with klw that this lineup is particularly boring. Would love to see what Alonso and Francisco could do against a decent lefty and would like to see Frazier at short.

Stubbs will have to wait to set a Reds record

Dusty's in a quandary. He wants Stubbs to score 100 runs, but doesn't want him to strike out 200 times.

I'm all for Stubbs sitting in favor of Heisey and Sappelt, but against a lefty? His OPS is .902 against lefties, .645 against righties. Oh well.

Oddly--according to this year's numbers, anyway--an ideal CF platoon would be Stubbs against lefties and Heisey against righthanders. Heisey's .588 against LHP, .869 against RHP. Don't see it happening, however.

Why isn't Hanigan catching?

I'm sure you will before the series is over (well, maybe not against a left, but in the game).

Arroyo allowed homer #41 to Fielder
Is that a new Reds record?

Yes, that breaks the tie between Arroyo and the Uncle Miltie Horror Show for 1st place all-time in HR allowed

edit: only 7 more to tie the NL record (Jose Lima, 48 in 2000)

Thx, I'm going to go see if he's on the DL.

They didn't say why, just that Hernandez and Cairo were playing tonight.

42 and 43 for Bronson. Lets go for 50. How may more starts does he have left?

Probably 2. 50 is the MLB record, only 7 more!

Why isn't Hanigan catching?

Hanigan is d2d w/ back spasms (the reason he was replaced last night).

And just  @ Bronson.

those 3 homeruns have jacked up Arroyo's HR/9IP to 2.167, the 2nd highest of all-time.

Only Jose Lima's 2000, at 2.20 tops it.

I just saw a tweet that Bronson has the same number of HRs allowed as he has walks given up (44) this year. Wow. Great control. ;)

Yeah but he still didn't swing very hard, sort of a check swing...

Ho hum, Joey Votto does something good. 2-run single makes it 6-3. Since Joey is basically the anti-Janish, can we start calling him Hard J?

Did anyone see me on Reds Live tonight? I was at the game for FSN Ohio night at the ballpark and was in the crowd during the broadcast for the first part of the show. My random moment of stardom! LOL  :D

Anyway, tonight was a fun time aside from the game score and these annoying hecklers that were in my section. There were some Brewer fans in our section who were being obnoxious but thankfully they left about halfway through the game. They were bratty fans and we had to laugh that they couldn't even remember where their team finished in the NL Central last year, LOL  This one guy sitting behind me claimed to be a Reds fan but said he doesn't like any of the younger players. He mentioned by name Alonso, Stubbs, Heisey, Sappelt, and Frazier and if he hadn't left he probably would have kept going. All I can say about that is....um, what?! I don't understand how you can claim to be a fan of a team and yet hate all the younger players who are not bad players at all and by most accounts, are very nice guys too.

BTW-That Sappelt catch was great. We cheered for him afterwards (I was sitting out in the left field seats above the out of town scoreboard.)

I still believe the Reds should have shut Bronson down weeks ago.

The quest to keep his never missing a start streak alive has hurt both Arroyo and the ballclub. IMHO

Boxscore.

Agree 100%. Shut him down. Start the rest process. Save the innings for next year. Some of the stuff they do just makes no sense at all.

Somewhere, quietly, Eric Milton chuckles at Bronson Arroyo.
