Here's last 2011 lineup per Fay:

Stubbs 8, Renteria 6, Votto 3, Bruce 9, Heisey 7, Francisco 5, Mesoraco 2, Janish 4, Volquez RHP

The last day of the baseball regular season is one of the saddest days of the year. The games are every day from April to October, usually. If you miss a game or the Reds lose there's always a game tomorrow. After today that game tomorrow isn't there until April.

Just seems yesterday that Razor took Axford deep to win opening day :(

And we get Volqy to end the season.... just as we had him to start it... :(

Its kinda been a crappy year for Reds baseball, but I'm still sad to see it go. :(

Brandon Phillips is sitting today (to preserve his .300 average.....?).

I think BP strained his quad yesterday.

I am at the game today and there can't be more than 15k fans here today. Weather is overcast but the temperature is very comfortable. I was shocked how few players signed autographs for the out of towners. Bill Bray signed a little, but no one else really did. Here's to hoping the Reds can finish it how they started it. 80 looks a lot better than 79.

Hoping it's the last we see of him.

Nothing doing for the Reds in the 1st save for a 1 out single by Renteria. After a leadoff single by Reyes (who was pulled for a pinch runner) Volquez gets the Mets 1-2-3. 0-0 after 1.

I see the Mets are playing the numbers game for Reyes.

After a leadoff double by Heisey, Francisco, Mesaroco and Janish go down in order. The Mets go out in order in their half of the 2nd. Volquez starts the 3rd by grounding to 2nd. Stubbs lines to LF and Renteria Ks.

Mets out in order in the 3rd again.

Both teams are so eager to go home neither may score. It may be the first 0-0 game in MLB history. :)

Mets have broken through with a run in the 4th and still batting.

Volquez riggles out of the jam. Mets lead 1-0 after 4.

With 1 out Harris walks, Wright singles (also pinch ran for) Evans singles driving in Harris BAxter pops to SS and Paulino grounds into a force. 1-0 Mets after 4.

Reds out in order in the 5th. 1-0 Mets

Mets threaten but do not score in the 5th.

Votto walks with 2 outs but Bruce strikes out. Still 1-0 Mets.

Mets extend the lead to 3-0 after a Baxter HR.

The highlight of this year really did come on Opening Day, didn't it?

I would have never guessed that in a million years.

Bruce flies out to LF and that's the season. Mets win 3-0. A two hit CG shutout for Miguel Batista.

The Reds should trade for that young stud Batista

Hate ending the season with a flat game like that. Bleh.

That was a "run for the bus" game if I've ever seen one. Our Reds couldn't wait to get their swings in and have a seat. Even the crowd was dead. Very poor showing for the largest city in the country

Weekday afternoon game ... rainy weather ... disappointing team and overpriced tickets. I don't blame Mets fans for not showing up.

This game was an example of the season, the illusion that the players are happy to collect their paychecks but not so interested in actually playing the game. 2 hits -- they should be ashamed of themselves.

I agree. I am much more bothered by the effort of the professionals on the field who are getting paid a pretty penny to play the game
