One of my favorite ballplayers of this generation.

Cameron played the game within the rules and he played it at a very high level. He also was and continues to be an outstanding person.

Here's to you Mike Cameron for doing it the right way.

Which is why stats are not the be-all and end all. Mike Cameron was a winner and a big piece of that wonderful 1999 team.

Drew Stubbs had plenty to do with the success of the 2010 team.

I hate when people try to tag players with the lame "clubhouse cancer" cliche and overstate its effect on a team, but wasn't Cameron one of those guys? If I remember correctly he got cut from a Marlins team near the end of the season for having 'character' issues.

Still, I always liked him. He seemed to hang around forever, and checking his stats it looks like he wracked up 52.6 (!) WAR over his career. That's probably mostly due to his defense and aforementioned durability, but still surprisingly impressive. I'll remember him most for his single great Reds season and that four homer game with Seattle.

Hmm, looking into it more, it seems he was well liked and respected around the league. I guess the Florida thing was just a slip up.

And I was also just reminded of that heart-stopping collision with Beltran. That was one of the most insane things I've seen happen on a baseball diamond.

Mike Cameron is the defensive centerfielder that most folks think Drew Stubbs is but really isn't.

I partially blame Jr. for his injuries, the Booby Miles mentality that he didn't needs to exercise, workout, and stay in shape on the offseason got him hurt more time than one.

Case in point, look at his arms in this picture...the weight room could have given him a set of pythons and probably +50-100 extra career HRs.

I agree to a certain extent. His epic play in the Astroturf/cement Kingdome, took its toll on his legs.
