I would have stubbs and Rolen come into close games later as defensive specialists. I would start Cairo/Frazier at 3rd. I would start hesiey in center and ludwick in left. AND fire dusty...hire a manager that is not a players manager, but someone who makes immediate and neccesary moves to win ballgames.

I'd start by reserving judgement seeing as how not even 10 games have been played. Run production was not an issue last year and that's a 162 game sample size.

The Reds are already 'all-in', it's not like we can just trade away more minor leaguers and get a cleanup hitter to play LF or 3B.

First thing I would do would be officially change the team name to the Cincinnati Redlegs. I'd also change the name of the field to Crosley Field and change the uniforms back to the old Big Red Machine unis. Despite having a crappy team, I'd try to make myself the bgest owner in sports. If the Reds lose a home game, I'd stand outside the ballpark to tell everyone how sorry I am that the Reds suck. If someone asked me a tough question, like how is Dusty still managing the team, I'd tell them I was wasted that day.

Baseball is a game of focus and timing. So I would try to make things as hard as possible for opposing teams. I'd also have awesome deals when there were games against division opponents in order to try tos create a hostile environment for opposing teams instead of the "date night" atmosphere we have at GABP on most nights. For example, if we're playing the Cubs and you bring in a Cubs shirt and throw it in the trash at the ticket office, you get 50% off your ticket. Or, when you buy your ticket, you'd get a tough Reds history question, and if you answer it correctly, you can upgrade your seats a section for free. Crazy promotions like that. I'd also get a promotion going with a local brewery like Hudepohl for $1 beers during division games, and a deal with John Morrell for $1 hot dogs in every section every day and then advertise the crap out of it. "Want to watch the game but beer and hot dogs are too expensive? You're thinking of other ballparks, not Crosley Field! During this home stand, all games will feature $1 beers and $1 hot dogs in every section! Why go to the bar when you can come down to the ballpark?" You don't think that wouldn't bring in some rowdy fans? Imagine Ryan Braun being pelted with hot dogs. I would also try to make it so the fans in every other major league city hates me, but I'd be beloved by Redlegs fans.

Also, if we had a day off, I'd send slumping players to the Bunny Ranch out in Nevada.

Joshua, great ideas, lets bring back the old school persona and see if that draws more people. Also, is anybody in baseball afraid to pitch to the .097 batting Rolen, wait, Lidge just struck him out, probably lower. We needed a right handed power bat that could actually hit, I would personally rather had spent the 8.5 mill (yes hindsight is 20-20) on a right handed power bat.

Also how about a Rowdy Red Rally Towel? I'd hate all those towels going on with a song of some sort, any way my silly ideas!

One thing I've learned from these forums is you never listen to the fans. Everyone was calling for Mesoraco last year. He's here now and looks nowhere near major league ready. They should've kept Hernandez. We have a triple A outfield that really wasn't addressed in the offseason. A 3rd baseman that is a platoon player at best. The pitching is better but Walt failed on the positions that needed to be addressed.

I'd remember that owners don't actually choose the players and that the GM I hired (who knows much more about baseball than I ever will) will be the one who decides about the manager.

I also wouldn't listen to fans who seem to think they could run a MLB franchise but who probably can't even manage a little league team to a winning record.

Stubbs mentioned before that he swings and misses so often because the other dugout is always saying "SSSWWWING BATTER" at the wrong time.

At this point there is little 'the' owner could do. We have quality players on this roster and it's doubtful that they will struggle the entire season. If I remember right the Red Sox started out horribly last season but turned it around. The Cards were like something like 10 games out with a month to go last season and look what happened?

Now lets look at this season so far...We have played the Fish/Card/Nationals. Each of these teams have either been picked by many to win their division or be near the top. We have faced some quality pitching also. Right now the only concern I have on the offensive is Stubbs, because I don't see "adjustments" happening which tells me either he is stubborn and doesn't want to learn and change, or the Reds are okay with this free swinging style which really concerns me. Pitching wise only Simon bothers me and hopefully his time here is limited.

If I am the owner, I look around MLB and see how other teams are doing (Brewers getting beat up by the Braves) and such and know there is still a ton of baseball to play.
